This drain pan is exactly what I needed for hassle-free oil changes. The 15-quart capacity is perfect for catching all the oil without worrying about spills, and the sturdy plastic construction feels durable and long-lasting. The design makes it easy to pour out used oil without making a mess, and it’s lightweight yet strong. Definitely a great addition to my garage for maintaining my vehicles!

I used the oil drain pan for the first time today to do an 8 quart oil change on my Chevy Silverado .It did not go well . The hole on the pan that the oil drains into can not keep up with oil flow from the motor . The used oil overflowed and made a big mess on my driveway . My easy quick oil change turned into big messy clean up . I didn't read the other reviews to drill a bigger drain hole to help solve this problem . I will drill a bigger drain hole and try it on my next oil change . I will update on another review if drilling the hole bigger helped with the oil draining properly . I would think the manufacturer would read the reviews and fix the issues most complained about . It’s inexpensive but you get what you pay for .UPDATE to previous review . 6/19/24 I did an all change on my 2018 GMC Acadiathat is driven by my wife . As I had mentioned before that on my Silverado the oil did not drain properly into the container and caused a huge mess . To try and solved this problem I drilled the drain hole bigger and it work like a charm all 6 quarts of oil ended up where it should have in the oil pan . The motor oil did not overflow and cause a mess . I recommended drill the drain hole bigger to avoid a huge clean up . This the reason why I changed my review from 3 stars to 5 .

Not sure whats up, the but ability to receive oil with the vent open is SOOOOOO slow, to the point where it will overflow the top pan. It's like the hole needs to be bigger, but if you drill it, then the plug will not fill. Not sure but its been the worst pan I have had, a coffee can would do better here.

This pan has great capacity but the drain hole is so small that most of the time it overflows when changing my oil

This is a good size and shape for your basic oil changes.I have used some others that were a little to tall for one of my cars. The other was shaped a little awkward and was hard to slide into where I needed it.

Use to have one just like this years back but lost it somewhere in a move.Perfect for capturing oil then pouring into another container to take to recycler.Just make sure to open vent before draining the oil.

This was exactly what I needed a drain pan to do multiple vehicles before needed emptying. 1st oil change 4.7 qts... Humm drain area filling up too quick oil not falling into the reservoir (vent was open). Ok held the drain plug up to pan to let things catch up no problem. 2nd oil draining 7.7qts .. I took the cap of the emptying spout so the reservoir can displace the air better. No Bueno. Pan overflowed. Dammit. I did the Same thing put the drain plug back into the truck oil pan to let drain pan catch up.. so really looked this thing over and The inlet into the reservoir is only 3/16" so drilled it out to 7/16" should be good now or so I'm thinking. Dorman has been around the automotive business forever they should know better.. idk if my pan slipped through the stringent china quality control or they all have a tiny inlet holes. Check yours out before your under the vehicle.Other than that it's built well and pretty easy to dump and has a cap to put on the inlet and dump spout which is nice. It's worth the 20 couple dollars.

For driveway DIY oil changes, this is the best I've found without spending 2x the money. Holding 15qts, you can drain the oil on 2 vehicles before having to empty. The catch is not too shallow and you won't get overflow before it drains into the container. My only con was that the drain hole needed to be opened a little more. Be careful if you reach for the drill and a half inch bit. If the bit catches and corkscrews instead of cutting, you'll go right through the bottom. In which case, if you did this while there was oil in the catch, you'd have oil draining all over the driveway. If you're lucky, the next oil drain pan order will be on sale.

Dorman makes good parts and probably good oil pans. Unfortunately I paid for this Dorman oil pan that can act as a sealed container for the oil but rec'd a green oil pan that is just a drain pan that is just like an enlarged pot. Despite their error I somehow had to pay shipping to send it back - $40 to ship from Vancouver Island to Gagan auto in Ontario to get a net $17 return. So buying this cost me time and wasted $40.
