Arrived quickly. Packaged firmly. All matching indentations, drillings, offsets, angles and contours fit like a glove. Quality engineered imo. Nice paint. Fit my 2012 Jeep Unlimited Saraha perfectly. Now peace of mind.

The Doorman skid plate fit my 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4 door perfectly. It also came with 9 bolts that were perfect for the installation. Installation took approximately 2 hours and went relatively. The Doorman Skid plate is one solid piece whose purpose is to protect and SUPPORT the gas tank. The ease or challenges of installation has more to do with your mechanical aptitude and the tools you have available to do the job. Basic tools are needed (socket set, floor jacks, hydraulic jacks). My son and I installed the skid plate without a hoist. We left all four tires on but raised the Jeep off the ground using 4 Jack stands. This allowed us to slide under the Jeep to loosen and remove the bolts holding up the skid plate (which holds up the gas tank). You can locate the support bolts by looking at the layout of the bolt holes on the new skid plate. All were relatively easy to get to. Make sure you either empty the gas tank or at a minimum have a small amount of gas in the tank. I estimated I had less than 4 gallons of gas in the tank, or roughly 20 pounds. We used two hydraulic floor jacks to support the skid plate/gas tank as we removed all the bolts. Note that there are several hoses/wires that connect to the tank. Locate these and make sure not to stress them or their plastic connectors. You don't need to remove these but you do need to know they exist and that you need to be careful not to stress them. These hoses/wires and their connections are on the top of the tank. The hoses/wires can move up/down with tank but don't stress them. With the hydraulic jacks supporting the weight of the skid plate and fuel tank, you can remove all bolts holding up the skid plate. Carefully, and slowly you can lower the unit (plate and tank) and once low enough you can remove the old skid plate and slide in the new one. The gas tank should remain relatively stable during this process. Removing the old skid plate and sliding in the new one can be a little tricky and requires at least two people (3 would be better) as you need to support the gas tank while sliding the skid plate into position. Once the gas tank is inside the new skid plate you can use the two hydraulic floor jacks to raise the unit up to the Jeep frame. Watch for pinch points (tabs/flanges) of the skid plate hitting the Jeep frame. You'll likely need to push/pull the unit to line up all the holes but this effort was minimal. Once we had the new skid plate in position, all bolt holes lined up perfectly. So, what do you need to do this job? SAFETY must be kept in mind. You've got several tons above you and you're dealing with a GAS tank that has highly flammable fuel in it. Make sure your Jack stands and floor jacks are rated for the situation and are in perfect working order. We left the tires on for added safety.Tools/help needed: - one mechanically inclined person and one or two helpers. My guess is that one highly skilled-mechanically inclined person could do this job by him/herself but having another person/hand is definitely a plus. - four Jack stands rated for this situation - two hydraulic floor jacks - 1/2 inch drive socket set (note: we used a DeWalt 1/2" cordless high impact driver to loosen the bolts but a 1/2 inch breaker bar would have also worked)Granted, having a hoist would make the job easier. I could have also used a professional repair shop but there's satisfaction in doing your own work. I hope this is helpful to those contemplating doing the job yourself. Again, don't compromise safety. If you're not mechanically inclined or don't know someone that is, it would be best to have a professional do this job.

My gas tank cover was rusted so bad that it had holes. I could hardly find this anywhere for a good value. Glad to find it here. So far, it's working to protect it. I'm not a fan of the welding on it... I could see why one reviewer had trouble. The welding could be better. It does looks like it could come apart later. Only time will tell. Still, a good value here and my mechanic coated it underneath so hopefully will help it last a good while.

Skid plate arrived and looked good until I took it out of the box. Spot welds are crap! I’ll have to reweld it and paint. I wouldn’t order this unless you want to do some extra work.

This product arrived quicker than expected. The issue with it appears the tack welder used to assemble the product was not set correctly and several welds were broken upon arrival. I had to weld the broken seams back together. After completing this the product fit perfectly.
