  • Great for conducting NGSS-aligned experiments that explore
  • Great for classroom science labs, STEM and STEAM programs, science fairs, maker spaces, and more
  • Station allows for lots of additional interactions
  • Includes enough materials for teacher demonstration or a small group

Wave Wires Magnet set is perfect for small groups or individuals to investigate magnets and their kinetic interactions. Just place the magnet wires on the base, activate them, and watch the unique ways they oscillate as their invisible magnetic forces "bounce" off one another! Great for classroom labs (grades 3 - 8), STEM programs, science fairs, maker spaces, and more. Conduct NGSS-aligned experiments that explore: Force and Motion, Structure and Properties of Matter, Energy, Engineering Design, Waves, Cause and Effect, Patterns, Stability and Change...and more! Includes enough materials for teacher demonstration or a small group: wood station with turntable, 2 viewing trays with graph inserts, 4 magnet wave wires, 1 station base, 12 steel weights, 1 activation rings, tube of iron filings, tube of steel balls, measuring spoon, and 40-page booklet.

The product is a great way to explore the concept of magnetism. I used this in a freshman science classroom and allowed students to explore the materials in the box. All of the students know about magnets but few actually know what magnetism is. The students explored for about 45 minutes. Some students just played, but others took the activity booklet and started to work on specific activities (compass, temporary magnets, magnetic fields)During this time, I would not answer questions, but I told students to write questions and observations. The questions and observations lead to meaningful discussion about magnetism and its uses. We used some of the activities in the pamphlet to continue the discussion. We will be doing more applied, higher thinking level activities with the materials later in the school year. This product took about 50 minutes to put together. (But that is a good project for the students that are “hands on” in your class)Overall, an interesting set to introduce and explore magnetism. Many students do not know the amount of magnets that are in their everyday lives.
