These are some serious pinch off pliers! Their strong steel construction makes them very dependable for high tension pinch off needs. Pinch off pliers are great for a variety of automotive and household maintenance tasks. Use them to pinch off pretty much any type of rubber or silicone or hybrid-type hose. They are particularly great for appliance & radiator hoses to make repairs without spilling water trapped above. Use them to pinch off smaller lines too, even rubber break lines; to resolve leaks in a temporary fashion until permanent repairs can be made. The wide jaws on these are about 2.5 inches for the two larger sizes, and just under 2 inches on the smallest one. The jaws have some added traction provided by the ridges etched onto the surfaces, which helps prevent slipping. The jaws swivel about 10 degrees towards either direction, which is helpful if you cannot get the perfect angle on the situation. The swiveling design of the jaws allows them to meet parallel, which is absolutely necessary for a dependable pinch. The ratcheting design of these pliers is pretty helpful especially compared to other non-ratcheting designs. Just squeeze to the desired tension, and when it comes time to release, just thumb the release lever to allow the ratchet to disengage and slide open. Because these are made from steel, they are capable of holding much more tightly then nylon versions. Overall I'm quite happy with this set. It may not be something you need every day, but any mechanic or appliance maintenance person will be glad to have these when the need arises!

I never thought I would need a product like this until I saw it. The ability to close off any kind of hose with liquid in it makes working on vehicles so much easier. Before, I would just to make sure the hose points upward so that liquid doesn't spill out; which it inevitably does when it gets bumped or moved. With these, I can be sure the liquid stays in the hose no matter where it is positioned, without the hose getting damaged by pinching it off with channel locks, which often don't have flat jaws anyways, and without fixing a plug to the end of the hose. If you find yourself working on liquid hoses constantly, then these would be great for you.

Good set for a pretty infrequently used tool. I used to use channel locks but these are just better and safer. If you find that you are doing more with gas, oil, or any other lines it's worth it to invest a few dollars in these.

If I had to use these every day with heavy usage, I might try to find something better, but for a hobby mechanic, they a decent tool. Only complaint is the ratchet is a little clunky to mess with and I am skeptical of there long term durability. For now, they do there job, so really can't complain.

We've had troubles with our HOA... hear me out, ti's about the pinch off pliers set.... I have a Rubbermaid shed that was too tall, and I had to move it or remove it. I chose option C - I cut it down by 36", and removed the crown. This meant I had an exposed gap that critters can get into.Enter the pinch-off pliers! I used these to hold the walls closed, and then a heat gun to change the overall shape, closing it permanently, and modifying it to the needs we have now.The locking mechanism is wonderful, the pinch off is great, and the pliers are great! 10/10

These clamps are easy to use and will work for a variety of hoses. I do wish there was a way to change the orientation for some tight spots, but they work as advertised.
