From the Manufacturer

The Dremel 545 Diamond Wheel is completely coated with fine diamond particles for working with hard materials. Designed to last and not lose its shape or break, it provides smooth, fine cuts. This Dremel is ideal for cutting, sawing, carving, sharpening and filing hard materials--including marble, concrete, brick, porcelain, ceramics, epoxy and hard woods. User-tips: For best results, insert an accessory bit all the way into the tool and then back it out slightly before tightening down. This provides plenty of shank for the collet or chuck to hold onto. Do not run in excess of 20,000 rpm. Therefore, do not use with a Single-Speed MultiPro Rotary Tool or a Heavy-Duty Flex-Shaft Tool unless you use the #221 Foot Speed Control.

  • Makes super smooth, fine cuts
  • Cuts, saws, carves, sharpens and files
  • Ideal for marble, concrete, brick, porcelain, ceramics, epoxy and woods
  • Wheel designed to hold shape and never break

This little attachment saved us so much money! Needed to cut 3 small ceramic wall tiles to fit in a small 6" x 30" space. We first tried another Dremel bit that said it was for tile cutting, but it couldn't cleanly or quickly cut the tiles and it seemed like it was more for cutting holes in installed tiles. My mistake! This little blade attachment is excellent. It cuts through tile with ease and only took one practice attempt to get the hang of cutting straight, clean lines. We used a clamp to hold the tile under running water while cutting, and wore masks and protective glasses. The end result looks like a pro job and I couldn't be happier!

After losing patience with a glass cutter, I decided I wanted something more heavy duty. So far I've used the 545 to cut the tops off of thick glass bottles. It still requires a little patience and skill, but it gets the job done much faster and smoother than any other method I've tried. It does come with the pictured mandrel (which was one of my concerns) I went to Home Depot just to price match and Amazon definitely gives you a better deal.I have nothing negative to say about this product, but if it were to be improved in any way, the diameter of the wheel is just small enough to where its difficult to cut all the way through a round glass without having to tilt the Dremel to get a deeper cut. Will definitely buy again if I need a replacement.

I used this to cut glass tile which was already on the wall. In terms of cutting into the glass, no problem - pretty much cuts glass like butter. The only thing I would caution is that the glass did tend to crack around the cut, and I'm not sure if this is because the disc was getting hot and cracking it, or if it's just the nature of the glass. Perhaps a lower RPM (I ran it at about 15K) or lubrication would help.Cracking aside, main issue I had was that the disc is slightly under 1" across, which means that the radius is less than 1/2". Couple that with the fact that you cannot necessarily get the disc perpendicular to the work piece because of the thickness of the body of the Dremel, this can leave you making awkward somewhat-diagonal cuts, no more than about 3/8" deep. In other words, cleanly getting all the way through a tile already on the wall is almost impossible.Of course, this was a problem with my particular application. If you were cutting a rod, or the edge of a non-affixed tile, I would guess it would work great. And, even the issues that I had partially were due to the design of the Dremel, not the disc (though a larger diameter disc would help). It would be nice if Dremel made a tool were the spindle was on the very side of the unit (maybe they do - mine doesn't).

I bought this to help make some tricky cuts in porcelain tiles. I used it to make deep scores, but I used nippers to complete the cut. Worked great and I highly recommend it.

was looking for tool to in large a square opening in Travertine tile. I tried a Diamond multi tool bit but it didn’t work very well. This is an excellent choice for cutting stone..

I had a small tile job consisting of only cutting about a 1/2 dozen tiles. Didn’t want to rent a tile cutter. This little wheel did a great job

This item is a waste of money and is unable to effectively cut even the smallest tile. It’s also incredibly unstable.
