Dritz WashAway Wonder Tape is a boon for those who sew or love art and craft. You can stitch through this double-sided transparent tape without gumming your needle. The washaway wonder tape makes sewing easy by holding seams and hems of fabrics together. It disappears when the fabric is washed for the first time leaving you with beautifully stitched symmetrical designs. A hassle-free alternative to thread basting and pinning, it must be stored in a cool place. This package includes 25 yards of 1/4" wide washaway tape.

I bought this Dritz Quilting Washaway Wonder Tape, 1/4 by 25-Yard to help with a bushcraft pack I made. I have three little daughters who I like to take camping, but since they're all still young, I have to carry the gear for them in addition to my own. It's hard to find an ultralight, high-load pack with enough capacity for that sort of thing, so I designed and made my own. I'm not very experienced at sewing, but after making a few small test bags, I started making the real deal. To help things along, I ordered this tape and instantly the quality of my sewing improved considerably. The double-sided tape keeps the fabric from shifting, allowing me to concentrate on making even stitches. It is so thin, it doesn't seem to interfere with the needle and thread. It just does its job and holds the fabric pieces in place. It is especially helpful when you have several pieces of fabric all coming together, such as the corners of a pack, plus a pocket, plus webbing loops all overlapping together in a single seam. The only downside here is that the tape doesn't always stick as well as I would like, but I won't deduct a star because I think it's about right (If it were stickier, it would hold the fabric more securely, perhaps, but it would likely also snag the needle or thread and create problems). When sewing fabric like nylon Cordura, the tape also sticks noticeably better to the "wrong" (PU coated) side than to the brighter/shinier "right" side of the fabric. If you're a novice sewer, or you are sewing complex items made from multiple layers of fabric (such as a pack), I really recommend this tape. It lives up to its "Wonder Tape" name.

Shirt way too long and I could not hem it without stretching out fabric. This was easy to use and needle didn’t get sticky when sewing. Paper a little tricky to get off, but once started it peeled away great. It also provided stability so the fabric did not stretch while sewing. Wish I had known about this before!

I bought this for zipper installation, and it works great. It has just the right amount of sticky to hold the zipper on without being too sticky if you need to reposition. Normally keeping zippers straight while sewing can be a bit difficult for me. If I use pins, they can make the zip or fabric pucker a bit, so you have to fiddle with it while sewing. This tape eliminates that problem. It was especially helpful when I had a 30" zip to sew. Would definitely recommend and buy again.UPDATE (1-3-21): Three things-1. Storage- If you don't plan to use this all up at once, I would recommend storing the tape in a ziploc bag or other airtight container. That way the tape won't dry out and lose its stickiness.2. Holds multiple layers, not just zippers- I recently had to sew some tight curved corners and it was hard to keep the layers from slipping, so I used a small bit of this to hold them in place, and I was pleasantly surprised that it worked. I didn't think the tape would be able to hold the layers together especially with the added tension. It was super helpful!3. Separating the tape- It can be a bit difficult separating the paper from the sticky tape, but if you "stab" the corner a couple times with your fingernail, it will help separate the layers making it easy to peel them apart.

I had never heard of this stuff but saw it on YouTube. It really makes hemming easier, and I found that if you press the END down really hard to make it stick to the fabric, then use a needle to remove pull back the plastic cover tape, it comes off pretty well. I would guess that the many people who are having trouble separating the sticky from the plastic tape are trying to do it without sticking the tape down securely first. It is next to impossible if you just try to separate the tape on a loose end. Also, scotch tape down the loose end on the roll of unused tape because if you don't it will dry out and will not stick.

I was doing a friend a favor by hemming several blouses that were too long for her. I'd avoided sewing with stretchy fabric for more years than I care to think about and set about learning the best way to do so using an on-line video tutorial page. So many recommended this, or a similar, product so I went ahead and bought it and produced, if I do say so myself, a very professional hem! I'll be using more stretchy fabrics in the future because of this great tape!

Stretchy, slippery knits are no match for this two-faced stitch-thru tape. My seams were mismatched and overstretched (especially as the machine didn't have a presser foot pressure adjustment) until I used this stuff. The seam holds it's shape and pattern perfectly from one end to the other. I can't see myself doing polyester-content knits without this!If there's only one knit to pick (ha, see what I did there?) it's that the backing is a little difficult to remove once one side has been stuck down, and when you try to remove the backing, the whole tape sometimes tries to peel off the fabric. I've achieved some success in using a razor-sharp scalpel blade to carefully separate the backing from the tape on a corner BEFORE sticking it down, and then not pressing on that corner until the backing is peeled off.All in all, great adhesion and truly an asset when working with difficult fabrics and narrow seams!

Did not work at all. Don't know if product was old and dried out or what. Adhesion poor and unable to remove top paper. I've purchased some locally at Hobby Lobby and it works great.
