It does a great job of picking up dropped pins in my quilt studio. I wanted a picker upper that would fit in my small tool keeper on my work table. This one fits perfectly!!As far as sturdiness, when fully extended, there seems to be a slight weakness/ flex in the middle. It's no big deal for my occasional use to pick up pins but wanted to note that, in case you might be picking up heavier items. The magnet is very strong and is wrapped with aluminum so it won't grab on to metallic chair or table legs etc when you're fishing for pins.I love it! Recommend it for sewists or quilters and it would make an inexpensive, practical gift.

This has one powerful magnet. During installation of rear deck speakers in my car I dropped a socket down an angled well on the rear deck, it has no other access except from the top. This tool allowed me to easily retrieve the socket. Awesome tool!

Absolutely an amazing product. It looks like its cheaply made. However it works like a high performance magnet. Its absolutely great! Worked perfectly to snag a stuck adjuster tappet from a almost impossible spot. Best purchase I've made on a tool.

I bought this to prepare for some car repair. It was immediately useful as it picked up a large rod that I dropped, as well as a 10mm wrench!

I got this to pull lifters out of my Jeep engine.Does it do that, yes.The magnet is pretty strong for its size.It does want to attach itself to the lifter and the engine block. But that's ok because it shows the magnet is plenty strong.

This is perfect for picking up dropped nuts and bolts and washers or a dropped tool. Saves my back from bending down to pick up these, I assemble BBQ grills for Home Depot, I drop alot of things and a pick up stick or grabber is my best friend.
