Great crockpot. Cooks well and fast on high heat. Easy to clean. Great size for a big pot roast! Lid seems to have a good seal.

Originally purchased this crock pot in April 2022. Used every other day to cook healthy dog food for my two Pitbull dogs...one is 80 lbs, the other 60 lbs. I would put the vegetables and turkey in the pot to cook for 6 hours, then add the brown rice for the last hour. Dog food turned out great. What I LOVE best about this crockpot is that the heat dial goes "off-warm-low-high", no more accidentally putting it on warm when I turned it all the way to the right. Had a previous crockpot I threw away because it was "off-low-high-warm". Too many ruined meals from food standing in 'warm" all day. Also love the red outside and large size which I need for my two-day supply of dog food. I have smaller crockpots I use for meal preparation for my husband and myself.Crockpot works great and is easy to clean. My other crockpot died two days ago. Just worn out from being on high 6-7 hours a day 4 days a week for over two years. The crockpot was kept in the garage for dog food preparation which means it was working when temps were in the 100s, so that may have been another factor in it only lasting 2 years.I also like that it is simple to operate. Just turn the dial to correct setting. Am NOT interested in digital programming...just one more thing to go wrong. Simple dials seem to have less problems.

This was purchased to replace a much older Hamilton Beach crock pot. This one works so well; cooks faster with great results for pot roasts, chicken and even ribs - so tender they fall off of the bone. I love the red color which matches my kitchen decor.

In recent years, I find myself utilizing the crock pot for two things: (1) making double batches of chili for my elderly mom so she has plenty to freeze; and (2) making a double batch of a dish for the annual family reunion. With the traditional six quart size too small to do this in a single run, I found this size and color (8.5 quart, red) very appealing and work the relatively small investment. It arrived in time for my annual trip to the Midwest and I received compliments on the color from my cousins.Where I ran afoul is the 8-12 hours on the low setting ... by the time eight hours has elapsed (first thing in the morning), all the liquid had evaporated. I remember it was boiling pretty steady just after a couple of hours but really didn't think anything of it. Once I got it to the reunion site, I added a little apple cider vinegar and more BBQ sauce when reheating in hopes of getting some moisture back.I still have a Rival Crock Pot (Model 3060) which also cooked things on low faster than expected so I did some additional research and it seems the FDA (some time ago) required slow cookers to increase their preset temperature settings as those for much older models were deemed unsafe. This would definitely explain why older recipes calling for 8-10 on low are way overcooked.I find myself needing to make more chili for my mom so I am going to give 'er a go, with the knowledge that I need to cut the time in half and check it. Recipe calls for 2-3 hours on high, or 4-6 on low; will go low and check at 2-3 hours.I'm still trying to find the exact preset temperature settings for this as well as my smaller one; starting to think it's a secret more sacred than the 1963 Zapruder film.EdNote: I've added an additional star to the review and four pictures from the double batch of chili following the initial review, a recipe that is my mom's favorite. The recipe itself can be found on momtimeout.com and calls for 2-3 hours on high (4-6 on low); the final picture is after three hours on low and definitely ready to enjoy. :-)Bottom line ... plan to make adjustments to cooking times depending on how old the recipe is; failing all else, keep an instant thermometer handy for checking internal meat/poultry temperature to get a feel for the cooking time/speed.

Was so excited to receive my RED Unit!Cooks as it should. The customer service has been great. I had a problem with the original order "CROCK" and they sent an entire CROCK and POT - a brand new one. So I have a Base with Useable Crock Unit and Just a Base - a heating elementThe BRAND NEW UNIT after I cooked soup in it, let it cool and removed soup I noticed a hairline fracture around the crock. Contacted Elite, sent photos and about 3 weeks later received a NEW CROCK for the New Unit. This still leaves me a Unit that is a Heating element.I discovered that I can use this unit to put my fresh bread recipe in either metal OR silicone bread pans in and cook it that way. SO THIS IS A BONUS!!! Make sure to put down a bread sling to remove the Extremely Hot Bread Pan. Also if you eat tuna or chicken from cans rinse 4 of them and put on bottom of unit to raise the bread pan off the floor, then add sling, then the bread pan. (Put some water in tins to create steam for the bread)Again the customer service at Elite was great, and I'm looking through thrift stores soon to see if there is by chance a crock that will fit my unit.It does get VERY VERY Hot quickly so be careful. Thanks Elite!
