My son needed reeds and these are exactly what he was looking for. I also received them quickly!

We bought this for a beginner oboist to see if it might last a little longer for her than the soft reeds we are currently using. And while it meets that goal, even my 10 year old can hear a mighty difference in the sound. Additionally she has to place her lips differently on the shorter shank of the reed. We use it for practice, but go back to the natural reeds at school and for performance.

As someone who has used regular reeds before getting this, I am disappointed with the quality. Reaching some of the lower keys as well as the upper octaves witht his screaces badly and the only way to correct it is to stop playing altogether. The reed itself cannot be adjusted in any way for better playing. I don't recommend this at all.

I didn't pay attention to the plastic part so my daughter couldn't get good sound on it.

Not good plastic reed at all; is not adjusted correctly. Saran across the base of the reed can not be adjusted.
