It wasn’t till later in the evening that I got a chance to install the new thermostat. When I took it out of the box, I compared it with the old one and it was taller when putting the new thermostat into the block, the extra length hit something in the water jacket area. Being that the old thermostat would stick sometimes I didn’t want to put it back in.I decided to take some parts off the old thermostat to make the new one work.The retainer that held the spring on the old one had a different offset and by changing that I thought it would work, however, one had a wire clip, and one E clip, also the shaft diameter was different and the receiver groove was different.Being I needed the vehicle early the next morning I went ahead and made the changes.Now it takes longer for the truck to warm up and the heat it gives off isn’t so great. It’s a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, 2.4 L engine. you’ve must’ve sold a ton of them.I know I shouldn’t have cobbled the toot together to make one working one. However, time was of the essence and I needed the truck early next morning And I didn’t want to put the old one back in because it would stick once in a while. I didn’t want to overheat the truck. The job I did to make it work I don’t trust. In good faith how about sending me the correct one?

The day after installing the new thermostat the serpentine belt started to make some noise, when checking at fist I could smell burn coolant then I saw how it was leaking. Try tightening more but I had done it to spec and was afraid to damage the casing. So I had to take everything apart again and got a new seal from the local auto parts. Not an easy task to have to do it all over again because of a bad quality part.

After installing this new Thermostat my toyota started over heating rappidly it would squirt water steaming out the cap like a geyser product was defective from the beginingfor a month i rode around having too add water too radiator i was thinking i was going too have to replace the radiator it was a bad Thermostat
