I have an old Mr Heater MH540T - thought it was doomed but decided to try one of these regulators. Works great. I did have to remove the brass fitting/adapter as the hose threads from the MH are pretty small (7/16" fitting). Was a PITA getting that off as it was locktited in I think and I wasn't about to use any heat on a propane hose...LOL. I ground down my smallest vise grips to get the old regulator off. Anyhow, just putting this here in case it helps anyone. Pretty stoked about this.

Regulator works well. The description states a 1/8" fitting for hose attachment. That is INCORRECT. The size is 1/4", not 1/8". Buyer beware.

This product is a great replacement regulator for the mh540t. But you do have to remove the adapter on top and that adapter is put in with Loctite. So you will need to put a wrench around the valve body and maybe put it in a vise or something to secure it and then use a wrench to remove the adapter. Once that's done you can screw in your hose from your tank top heater. And it works pretty good the only drawback is the first couple of times turning the knob it's very difficult. And the reason I had to replace mine was the knob on my original regulator broke off. I called Mr Heater and they don't give an option to replace the knob you have to buy the entire regulator which is over $57 which is half the cost of the entire unit. But the lady was nice enough to tell me check on Amazon there's a replacement that works. And it was only $20 to my door. The description for the regulator says it works for the mh50t but they should let you know you have to remove that nipple and they shouldn't be using lock tight on a brass fitting. I would have gave it five stars if it hadn't been so difficult to remove the fitting.

Unfortunately, the product does not perform the job it is intended for at all. None of the regulator's positions changes the gas flow. Additionally, it is difficult to switch from one to another position.

Item arrived and upon installation realized that I needed a brass fitting that went from the 1/8" that is on the hose, to the 1/4" brass fitting that is ACTUALLY installed on the item. Inacurate description as far as that goes. Otherwise, a great product! Works great and feels solid!
