Setting the rockers on a 1,6 VW. I replace the valve cover gaskets about every third time. No sealer on the head but a thin bead on the tin cover. Just to help hold them in places during installation. These are thick, fit perfect, and do the job. Will buy again.

These are nice- composite rubber/cork, this is my second set in about 3 years. The only reason I'm replacing them is I stupidly tore one as I was cleaning the valve cover (I have the bolt-down, dune-buggy style, not the ones that use the bail). If I had a recommendation to make, it would be put a couple of drops of gasket sealant on the VALVE COVER SIDE only, not on the head, just to hold it perfectly in place while installing. Not absolutely a must, but it's a helpful 3rd hand.

These gaskets fit very well and are leak free.

These fit nicely in the valve covers, but once installed back on the engine, I noticed large oil stains in the driveway from oil seeping out of the covers.

You want that cork gasket on your air cooled VW. They are wonderful and well made.
