Excellent product for first time wood burner. Tips get hot, but the handle stays relatively cool depending on what temperature you set it at. Would recommend product to anyone looking to getting into Pyrography.

This is a massive upgrade from the wood burning pen I was using.You get so many bits plus three different pens which all work very well.You can create very detailed designs and this is a lot more comfortable to hold and easier to use than my prior one. It gets hot impressively quickly, is easy to set up and I love how you can adjust and visually see the digital temperature reading.Instructions are not great and would be a lot better if not printed so small, hard to read and if they were in color. For the most part they provide the basics of how to use this correctly and a generalization of what tips are best, along with the temperatures which they perform most effectively at.I still decided to do a bit of research on the internet which is advisable if you are new to wood burning/ pyrography. It's s hard to know what is ideal for the project you are working on, especially considering the amount of tips provided. You can (for the most part) guess by the shape of the wire however it's just easier to use the correct one from the start.As with other wood burning tools, you do have to wait a short period of time to change out the tip since it is obviously scalding hot. I have heat safe gloves which I recommend.As for changing the wire tips, you have to align the tip ends with the pen and tighten the screws. Pretty easy and so far I haven't had any fall off mid use.It's a night and day difference from the basic, cheaper one ($25) I had prior to this and very fun to use. There are many more options and it's a really good step up for an affordable cost.The photo is of my very first attempt using this tool. Not perfect by any means and I've been improving over time after continued use and learning along the way. My biggest issue was setting the temperature to the most effective setting (depending on the wood type) without over burning the wood. It's amazing how a small difference in temperature can change how this performs.

I am new to the art of woodburning and I really love it. This kit comes with so many options. It has 3 heads to tackle different jobs, and so many different pen heads to use for detailed burning. I also purchased some 1 foot square thin boards that I plan to trace a picture onto and then use the different heads to detail the picture. I had some spare boards lying around so I did a little rudimentary sign and can't wait to get way more detailed. This kit has everything I need to create some beautiful art and signs.

Needed a gift for a very intense creative twelve year old boy. He really has an interest in everything science and hands on and this will be the perfect gift for him. I am super excited to see what he creates. The set is amazing and has all kinds of tips, etc. This is a much nicer kit than I anticipated and it feels very high quality. I feel really good about this gift - educational, creative, artistic... hands on fun. Winner winner.

For $46, you get everything you need to get you started on your wood burning journey, from the wood burning machine to three pens, two of which can be used simultaneously or individually, a whole bunch of different tips, plus a couple of other necessities. This is a great tool if you're just starting out, to see if you like it and if you do, this kit will grow with you. And it is all in a small package, so it is easy to carry with you and as long as you have an outlet, you can practice on the go.
