This is indeed one of the best and handy appliances on the market as in accessories for sewing. I've gone through 2 or 3 by now ... I hasten to say I do a LOT of sewing .... you might use one and have had it for years ... my thing is that eventually, the little measurement stripes get erased with all the usage, and then they become a lot less handy when that happens. But this doesn't stop me getting a new one, they save a LOT of time, doing hems, or simply wanting a curate seams, so I think they're wonderful. L.B.

It doesn't do 1/4 inch. I prefer the metal ones.

I am not an avid, nor professional sewer, but I do use this on my products that I create. The sliding button function is nice, but it does have the tendency to slip every so often. It reads well, but do not recommend using while combined with ironing the seams down. The hard plastic makes it feasible and susceptible to breaking over time and with use.

My old one wasn't made well and the slide bar would slide. This item stays in place. You push down on the orange button to slide it and when you remove your finger it stays in place. It's well made and is going to work out great. Highly recommend.

It works well, and I like that it locks in place. The only down side, which isn't too bad, really, is that it's not very sturdy. Flexes too much. but I can work with that.

I make curtains and blinds and this is a brilliant little tool. It is sturdier than alternatives and the slider stays put
