My son had fun playing with this on Christmas Day! He's 50! He's a camper and was very excited to receive this tool and was very impressed with it! He put it together every way it could be used including the whistle. From his reaction, I say it's the perfect gift for a camper.

Bought this to use while metal detecting. Nice compact tool which looks to be well constructed. Can’t wait to use it.

It's heavy, but it's solid. I've used it to dig about 3 toilets, the guthook is alright for cutting small line too. The saw end is serious and didn't dull after cutting some 1.5 inch hardwood branches. The multitool ports can be useful, but I've never found a single bolt it would fit. And even if it did, it's super hard to align and turn (assuming you can fit the profile of the shovel on the bolt) it would've been much wiser to put one of those notches closer to the tip of the shovel, or at least a notch for the bit set to fit into. For self defense, it's fairly portable, it's not very weapon shaped. Once, I accidentally hit myself on the shin with about 3% of my strength, and it did in fact fold me. I might take it to a machine shop and get that notch bit cut out of the tip, but other than that, I do really like this shovel for camping and travel, it's been a reliable multitool that I've found use after use for.

The build quality is great, and it is a solid shovel and pick, if used correctly. The edges and tips are sharp, which is great, but there are some flaws in the design of this product. The shovel is basically a pick that you can fold down to use as a shovel. It's superb when used as a pick, but dangerous when used as a shovel. When the head is folded down, the sharp tip of the pick is parallel to the handle. The only safe way to use it when folded down is if you have small hands that fit between the handle and the tip of the pick. It's better when extended as your hand is away from the tip of the pick. The scary part is if your hand slips down, say if you unexpectedly hit a rock. The sharp tip of the pick is pointed towards you and is positioned in a way that can easily pierce your hand.Unless I'm doing it wrong, I'm hesitant to use this shovel for anything other than a pickaxe. Maybe if I had thick enough gloves I'd consider using the shovel, but only in an emergency. It's a shame because this would have been a solid shovel/pickaxe combo, but I like my hands a lot so this may remain unused.

This is one of the purchases you make and hope you never have to use. I figured it would be a good idea to have a small shovel in the trunk of my car for emergencies. It goes together very well and is very compact. I hope I never have to use it, but if I do, it will be very handy.

I'm not one to gush over simple things - but when something is made right and it feels and works above and beyond what is expected then it should be applauded. This little tool is really nicely crafted, the extension pieces fit well ( and there is a little surprise ion the top piece! A fire starter ) The shovel blade is beautifully made and really heavy duty - the pick part is substantial but only for light work, not trying to rock heavy boulders free. The serrated edge of the shovel is super sharp. the mechanism to change the angle of the shovel blade is well thought out - simple and effective. The case is kind of cheap and not really useful - but the tool itself is superbly made and a truly welcome addition to your pack or survival gear.

This amazed me with all it has to offer. The mechanism to tighten the handle in the position you want, is heavy duty and it stays in place. The shovel is sharp so be careful. It comes with two pieces to extend the handle that they do not fit in the carrying pouch. I have a small camper van so we are short on space. The cap that stores the hidden magnesium bar fits on the compact handle too. So I’m probably just going to throw the handle extensions in a hard to reach area of the van and just keep the short shovel handy as the shot handle should be all we need on most trips. Just a side note mine didn’t come with a logo on the shovel as pictured in the listing.

Seems well thought out and well made.Haven’t used it yet…Smaller than I had envisioned which is both good and bad.
