High Density discs are ideal for the extra tough jobs. 4-1/2-inch (11.43 cm) by 5/8-inch 11 threaded arbor. ZA60 with max 13, 300 RPM. Typical spec example a24r-bf: a=used for steel, 24=grit (coarse), medium to hard BOND. The first series of letters indicates grain type; aluminum oxide (used in metal applications) Silicon carbide (Used for masonry applications) ZA= alumina zirconium used for (stainless steel and ferrous metal applications) ta=ceramic treated aluminum Oxide (used for metal applications) The second series of letters indicates grain size or grit; 8-24=coarse, 30-60=medium, 70-180=fine and 220-up=hard. The third Series of letters indicates BOND hardness; a-n=soft, o-s=medium and t-z=hard. The fourth Series of letters indicates type of BOND; bf=retinoid fiberglass reinforced (double bonded), e=shellac, rubber and v=vitrified. Wheel types; type 1=flat wheel for cutting, type Depressed center wheel, Type 28=hat shaped for grinding and type 29=flap disc for grinding and finishing. Note: harder wheel have a longer life where a softer wheel will cut faster. Fine grain=long life=slower cutting and grinding. Coarse grain=short life=fast cutting or grinding. First time using a flap disk. Not exactly what I expected, but I’m sure that is because I was expecting different results, expecting too much.Product holds up sell, remote sufficient amour if material, but did not leave as smooth a finish as I was expecting. Took a lot of work with orbital sander to smooth out.Again, my first experience, I’m sure I was expecting too much. Good quality product.

Gets the job done! Got this for restoring an old metal table that was was covered with sublimation residue from work. Once to the metal it was rusted so this helped me in the restoration part. Got the 80 grit for the thick parts to make things quicker but the 120 was super for the tops.

switched to using only disks with the metal threaded center. They cost more with the metal center but I think they are about twice as tough. This one is a good deal for the amount of service life it offers.

Very pleased with Forney products and as a home welder have found them VERY useful for sanding welds flush for autobody and other welding work. They remove metal far faster than a grinding wheel. Awesome tool for that application.
