This was written by a hobby machinist, trying to save a buck over getting a Mitutoyo. In spite of what another reviewer has said, the one I got didn't have mixed measurement systems: The dial gauge is graduated in inches (.001) and the mechanical counters are in inches and tenths of inches.I tested some basic measurements on a granite reference plate against gauge blocks and all the measurements were accurate to .001 and repeatable to about .001. So, it works as advertised for its purpose. I didn't check anything over 4" tall.Vertically, the two columns are nearly perfectly perpedicular. With an indicator, I was observing about .0005 deviation in about 3 inches, so the unit leans back just slightly. By placing a small shim under one side I was able to get perfect zero deviation measurements on the indicator as the unit was cranked up and down. So, you could use the unit for perpendicularity testing (with an indicator instead of the scribe) by scraping the base a little to correct for this, which is my plan.Overall, this was a good value for the price.

Not bad, but not perfect. Didn't expect it to be, so ok. Like most Chinese stuff, finishing is up to the buyer. The base had burrs to be removed, which were because it's is machined, but does not appear to be ground. Certainly not chamfered, so sharp. Requires polishing before it will move easily. Otherwise appears to be usable.

This is a very close copy of a Japanese brand I used when I worked in QC at a major manufacturer. It works very well for my limited need. I cannot check the precision but it appears to give very repeatable readings, thus I think it must be OK. Well, if I wanted the certified QC precision then I would have to spend 6-8 times as much for the genuine article. This is a well made heavy duty tool that will satisfy needs of any shop within its advertized parameters

Have bought two duel beam height gages. One has been in service two months and the other has been in service one month. Both are working great in a machine shop that works 24 hours a day 5 days a week. I would say that they get used at least a hundred times a day. When we got them we tested them out and they were very accurate for use in a machine shop. When we need more of this duel twin bean height gage we will buy this one. Update 8/19/19. I have now bought 6 duel beam height gages. This is a very good height gage. Like I said before they are in service 24 hours a day 5 days a week. You can not go wrong buying this gage.

I have this a one star cause you couldn’t give it zero. Received the item it was defective. Sent it back and they sent me a replacement which was the right thing to due only for the replacement to be defective.

For a "generic" version of this gauge it is very well made! Absolutely repeatable readings, very smooth action of the elevator gears. Mounted a Mitutoyo 513-504T dial indicator in place of the carbide bit to create a height gauge accurate to .001" and an indicator accurate to .0005"! Absolutely terrific buy compared to "name brand"!
