Probably all I'll ever need. Unless something comes along where you need the taller one, probably order the smaller one. Big shop, the big one.

I always read the reviews (despite the fact that I've been told Amazon pads the reviews to sell products) and some weren't favorable but most were so I purchased the gauge. Very satisfied. Some reviews mentioned sloppiness in the mechanism or assembly issues and others, burrs. I found none of these issues. What I received was as much a professional instrument as any other top name brand would provide. My only issue is the case it comes with which is very sturdy and appreciated but huge making storage when not in use difficult in a small shop. In my opinion, the case could be much smaller but that is a minor issue. Definately worth the money.

This tool is very nice for the price. It’s probability better than I am. But I don’t know what a better height gauge would do better than this tool.

It's 12" and all metal. It's got to be better than 6" plastic ones they sell for a couple of bucks less!

I have never before bought something that was packaged for shipping as good as this. They took care in protecting the precision measurement instrument.Comes in a blow molded plastic case, perfect for carrying around the shop. Somehow the 12 inch was cheaper than the 6 inch
