I like using paper plates. One never has to wash plates. It's way more convenient for me. Only one catch: paper can be flimsy. One day I remembered a trick my mom used when we were camping. Paper plate holders. Too bad they were plastic. I hate plastic ANYTHING. So does Mother Earth. So I looked on Amazon. I found these. Bamboo! No brainer.Now I buy the flimsiest paper plates I can find. So this purchase has already saved me money. One caveat: split bamboo can be sharp. If you are in the habit of sliding your hands across the bottoms of plates, you might get poked. Also, these can "shed". You might have to pick up the odd piece of bamboo. Still a world better than plastic or food on the floor.

I suppose these are made from woven strips of bamboo. I used my original bamboo plate holder until the bottom separated from the top. Fits my 8-1/2 inch diameter plate & it looks to me as if a 9 inch plate would fit. I downgrade it slightly in comparison to what I had before because the bamboo strips are slightly wider for the sides than the holder I had before which means they are less flexible and have a courser weave with more space between the strips. The bottom has narrower strips which means they are more flexible for a tighter weave. Still it works fine for what I want. There are some sharp ends if you press too hard. I recommend these plate holders for their purpose--to hold a plate, paper or otherwise, securely

I liked the material they were made of and they fir my paper plates well. I felt that they materials they are made of was less sturdy than I would have liked.

These things are getting bashed on the reviews, but I think they're great. I started with 8 and after over a year of serious use, I'm down to five. I find this very reasonable considering the price to usage ratio. The three I tossed were because of broken wicker around the sides, and/or staining and probably could have been salvaged. But at this price, Ill gladly buy more as needed. Initially they seemed small, but standard paper plates fit fine. You may just have to tweak them a little out of the box to stretch the wicker a tiny bit, but you want a tight fit so the lip hooks over the plate.

There were two choices for non-plastic paper plate holders on Amazon - one that appeared poorly constructed and the one I purchased by Foxrun which appeared in the picture to look like the ones I currently own. I love the ones I own because they are very sturdy. Mine are starting to fall apart after MANY years of use, so I want to replace them. I purchased the more expensive plate holders because they looked like what I already own and love, but what arrived was the cheaply constructed design.I don't like what I received and would like to exchange the plate holders for what I thought I was buying.

I have read the reviews on regarding the sturdiness of the plates and disagree with all of the negative comments.The basket fits the typical paper plates giving it the support they need if you are holding your food or even sitting at the table.These were very popular back in the1970's and you could only find them at places like "Pier 1". Now they are getting hard to find so I jumped on this offer when I saw them. They are wicker and will only last for so long so you have to replace them in about 6 to 8 months. They are worth it and I have no problem doing that.Hopefully I will be able to find them again when I need them.Very happy with this purchase.

Finally! Paper plate holders that are actually larger than the paper plates.For years I've been using this type of paper plate holder, only to struggle with keeping the plates in the holders. The entire plate was the same size as the holder, making it difficult to keep the plate inside it. When these arrived, I was expecting more of the same. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the holders were actually larger than the plates.I highly recommend these holders.

Absolutely super. Any garden party or buffet type meal is hopeless without holders like this to support paper plates so that you can use knives and forks without everything bending and collapsing. I would have ordered more for myself if I didn't already have some very similar holders that I bought years ago. I will save a link to the product, though - they could provide a perfect gift for friends and neighbours.
