Before purchasing I looked through the comments in hopes to find someone who had my car model/year and said this worked but I failed to find the comment I was looking for-which is why I’m here for anyone else who may be in my situation.I was a bit confused since the price difference from the genuine part to the price of this item was a big gap so I had concerns if it would actually work like the genuine part -but I am pleased to say that concerned I am no more!It took awhile for me to make my review bc I wanted to be sure it worked for good and not just for a moment so I am posting this review 2.5 months after purchase and installation.* I drive a LEXUS GS300 2001 so if looking for a car specific review of a LEXUS GS300 years 97-05 -you have found itMy problem was I had a check engine light come on and scanning resulted in reading 3 codes:•P0440 (Evaporative emission control system),•P0441 (EVAP system incorrect purge flow) and•P0446 (Evaporative Emission control system vent control)Each code list possible fixes (bc I used a “BlueDriver†device to scan) that other owners found to work in solving the problem and removing the codes permanently and one possible fix (among others) that each code listed was replacing the gas cap, so I started there since it was the simplest and cheapest. When replacing it -first I noticed how simple it was to remove the original cap from the car, also how this item looks identical to the genuine gas cap being removed, even the text written on the cap was the same wording and font on each. The ONLY problem I found is that the arm that hangs off this cap, the part that attaches to the car in order to make sure the cap isn’t lost - that didn’t fit as snug and as well as the genuine part, but after a little effort and imagination-I got it to stay and hang on and tbh I forgot I even had to do that until writing this review bc I can’t tell a difference. So overall, I personally wouldn’t call it a “problem†since it was an easy fix.I did clear the codes after installation and honestly I waited for the day for the check engine light to reappear (bc that just seemed to easy) but here I am 2.5 months later and it’s still gone. In the past when cleaning the codes (without a fix) the light would reappear by the 2nd or 3rd time I started the vehicle so I can confidently say that this gas cap 110% solved the problems causing my check engine light to come on and it has permanently stayed off the dashboard (and hopefully always will)Good luck!

I ended up cutting it off because it would keep the cap from turning enough to seal the tank.

My original fuel cap had a problem and would not secure the fuel line causing my Check Engine light to come on. Replaced cap and no more engine light.

I bought this to replace a gas cap that had lasted me over 20 years on my 2003 Corolla. This product worked fine at first, but after a few months, my check engine light started going on. My mechanic found that the gas cap somehow unscrewed itself. Easy fix, I thought. But it continues to unscrew itself despite me turning it through more and more clicks, and my check engine light repeatedly turns back on. Oh and the plastic that allows this cap to attach and hang from the car stopped rotating around the cap. I had to remove the attachment plastic a while back.Wish I didn’t buy this product. What a nuisance.
