I searched for a good garden bed sealer and went with this one since it was food contact safe. We plan on using some wooden garden beds this year for veggies and wanted to be sure nothing horrible contaminated the soil. My first order had some issues but customer service with this company is top notch! Jenny was amazing on making sure I had all issues resolved and I’m so thankful for a company who actually responds and makes things right, which is REALLY hard to find. The sealant is super easy to use (I used a sprayer) and dried really fast. Luckily we’ve had some nice breezes to help. The smell is very sweet and strong, so I would recommend a mask. I was able to put on 2 coats with a day of drying time between as directed but honestly I don’t think it takes that long to dry under the right conditions. It gave the wood some life and I’m loving it! The price seems to be fair especially for it being food grade safe. Would def recommend and purchase again!

I used this on a large chicken box which has been turned into a planter, the largest side is 4'. I bought the medium size bottle but could have just gotten the smallest one. It's very watery and was easy to use. I used a good Purdy paint brush and it may not be good for much now but it made the process very smooth with no splashes getting on me that I could see. The smell is intense but it's a sweet wine smell and it didn't make me feel sick and most chemical smells make me sick pretty quick. Your supposed to wipe the wood after applying to get rid of a stickly feeling but I didn't feel like it and saw other reviews that said they didn't think it was needed so I skipped that step. I waited several hours and touched it in a couple of places and it's not sticky at all. I used a large empty pumpkin puree can and it washed out fine. I also left quite a mess on a plastic table outside for several hours and had no problem wiping it off and it didn't hurt the plastic. The only thing I may not be able to use (except for future wood protecting projects) is the paint brush, but it was worth it to me to have a no mess application and not have bristles coming out everywhere.

I bought a quart of this stuff to seal a trio of new medium-large cedar planter boxes (I'm not planting directly in them, but growing large plants within grow pots, so it's not quite as exposed to moisture as a raised bed would be). It's too soon to tell how well it holds up to the elements, but overall the application was smooth and the finish came out quite nice. I didn't add any tint, so it really just highlights the grain of the wood a bit and gives it a more polished look. I did two coats and ended up with a few ounces of the product left over.Application was easy. If you've ever used Rubio Monocoat it's pretty similar to that. I wiped up the excess after each coat, as directed, and didn't have any stickiness once it was dry.I took off one star for a couple of reasons.1. The scent. Other folks had mentioned in their reviews that it's got a very strong smell. What I didn't realize is that the smell is, almost certainly, an additive. It's vaguely tropical, but also smells very artificial, like a gas station piña colada air freshener. I wouldn't call it offensive, exactly, but I really wish it wasn't in there. I'm guessing the main ingredient of this product is linseed oil or another drying oil, and I find their natural odors much more appealing than this. It's cloying, and a tiny bit of it on clothing will stink up a room. The boxes are now outside in the fresh air, a few days later, and they still stink like the bargain bin of a Bath and Body Works.2. There's a lot of marketing copy hyping this product, but none of it seems to include a meaningful description of the actual ingredients. Maybe there's an SDS somewhere, but I dislike that the manufacturer seems to be hiding the ball as to what's in it. Different finishes work differently, as anyone who's ever finished wood knows, and having more info prior to application would be a sign of respect for the customer, in my opinion. It'd also better tell me if what I'm buying is actually a good deal.Despite the above, I took a chance on this stuff because it seemed well reviewed, was competitively priced, and touted as low VOC nontoxic. I'm happy with the results, but I can't say I'd be terribly inspired to buy it again unless the manufacturer addressed the above concerns.

Easy to apply and doesn't have a strong odor. Also dries very quickly.

Used on fir lumber for raised beds. Easy to apply and seems to hold up well. Looks good too.

I bought this to use on a raised bed garden I built for my daughter. Don’t want my grand son growing extra limbs because he ate garden vegetables so I figured I’d go non-toxic. I’ve used the other stuff on my own gardens and haven’t noticed any issues but why take the chance? This covers like most other sealers I’ve used. Went in easy and did a quick wipe down after it dried for about 10-15 minutes. This is supposed to prevent stickiness and I can tell you that I did not experience any stickiness.I really like how it brings out the grain in the cedar. It gives it a ‘wet’ look rather then changing the color. Given that it doesn’t have a distinct tint, I believe it may not offer as much ultraviolet protection but time will tell. I can’t speak to durability yet but I assume it will require a yearly re-application to prevent graying of the wood.I applied the cedar to the cut boards before assembling. I did this outside because there is definitely an odor to it and I wouldn’t recommend doing it in a basement or enclosed space. The smell dissipates over the course of a couple days but it’s there. I assembled after they dried for 24 hours and they were still oily but nothing terrible. After 48 hours, they are pretty dry and should be good to handle the weather now.The bed is 8x4 and is about 16 inches tall. It took about half the bottle to provide one coat of coverage. It seems that one coat should provide pretty good protection. I’m not seeing any spots that seem unprotected and it seems to have covered evenly.Overall, while pricey, I’m pretty happy with it so far. If it protects for at least a year without reapplication, I’ll be happy.

Simply put... built a planter box out of kiln cured pine. Used the sealer. The application was easy and looks good once done. After it dried the planter boxes were installed and are in use as we speak. Not a bad scent considering it's a sealer. So far so good!

Used this on my cedar planters and it brought out such a nice rich golden color.Had a very strong citrus smell, half pleasant and half overwhelming. My the smell lingered in my garage for a few days after sealing and curing, but wasn't too bad. No headaches or unpleasantness while sealing.I looked high and low to find a food safe wood sealer, and this product kept turning up. Expensive, but I'm very happy with the immediate results. I'm hopeful the wood is protected for a long time.

It has a nice color but i won't know how good a sealant it is until later. Would not be able to cover the amunt of square foot it says it's good for.
