Just recently installed a filter and purification system. Would’ve bought the 20†version but didn’t have the room. Still extremely happy with these. Few points below as to why and thoughts during and after install.1. They’re as universal as it gets! You can buy any type of filter for these and they’re not that expensive. I installed three of them with a 5 micron, 1 micron and carbon filter.2. Install was extremely easy! Took maybe 30 minutes to unpack, assemble, and hang on the wall.3. For connections I used 3/4†sharkbite fittings with sharkbite PEX pipe. No issues with leaks, have clear markings for in and out, and worked from the get go.4. These can filter ALOT of water before being swapped. I installed two water pressure gauges, one before filters and one after filters to help gauge how dirty they are by pressure loss.5. If you’re worried about pressure loss installing these, don’t! We have a 2400 square foot house with 3 bathrooms. Our main water line is around 45 PSI. After installing these and a UV purifier, the post filtration PSI is actually 5 PSI higher when the water is running or not.6. Buy them. I spent $788 on everything you see in the pictures. That’s much cheaper than any “kit†of the same size you can buy. It takes planning but you really just need to know connections, 3/4 MNPT for these, UV filter was 3/4 FNPT, how many elbows, how many tees, then some gauges and shutoff valves and the PEX pipe is easy to cut to any length needed. Just get the removal tool in case something leaks or you need to adjust something! I rerouted some pipe after initially installing it.Great buy and can’t wait to see what these filters look like a few months from now.

... be aware that you will probably need to use a LOT more Teflon tape than what you are accustomed to using. I started installation with my normal 4-turns of tape, but this was woefully inadequate. Both sides leaked. I got one side to stop leaking after pretty much bottoming out the fitting. The other side still had a slow drip. I ended up redoing the fittings with more tape, and this proved to do the trick. Aside from the threaded holes being tapped a couple turns too deep, the overall filter housing & mounting bracket are great quality at a really great price.

This filter is a replacement for one I had less than a year. The housing cracked.

I have bought 2 of these devices. The first one developed a crack on the filter housing. I worried that it was due to high water pressure (around 85 psi, though it supposedly is rated at 90 psi.) So, I installed a pressure regulator set at 75 psi and ordered/installed a second unit. After a year in service, it developed a housing crack again with water everywhere!Definetely: DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I bought 2 of these to make my own 2 stage full house system . Make sure you use teflon tape on the inlet and outlets , which is basic practice for any threaded fittings. Brackets are good and strong, make sure you use large enough screws to fasten to your wall or whatever your mounting to. When filled there is a decent amount of weight that needs to beheld! When i first filled the housings there was some leaking briefly ( 2 - 3 secs) I am thinking this was just the rubber 0-ring seating itself, but after that no problems at all. Just be careful when screwing the housing together with filter, the filter will easily sway side to side a bit just try and keep it centered as you start the threads tighten it up.Over all great product. I feel people complaining about leaking just don't take the time to do things right?

Tried adjusting port with screw, cant stop it from leaking. After disassembling screw/knob its clear there is a small indent in the molding, a defect from the mold, causing water to leak even with the gasket and pressure holding it down. Poor quality. One nice feature of this filter housing is the alignment center post in the top lid. Although it holds the filter centered while tightening, the land that actually touches the filter gasket is a bit thin compared to Pentek's big blue. The o-ring was dry and would need some food-grade silicone sealant which who has, the o-ring mating surfaces were also poor quality due to similar molding issues. Pentek's came already greased and had a good surface finish on o-ring mating surface. For those who get plastic ports (everyone should due to acidic water leaching lead from brass) don't use metal male fittings with these female plastic ports or it will leak regardless of how much sealant. Plumbing rule of thumb is metal female only or plastic both- never use metal male on female plastic.

These big blue housings are very well made and easy to install. Does not come with fittings, be sure to use enough Teflon tape (8-10 wraps) on your fittings to prevent leaks!! Very pleased with this housing.
