This Pentek 150296 SW-3 wrench is used to loosen the sumps of water filter housings. It is made of strong plastic. This wrench fits the sumps of Pentek #10 Big Blue filter housings, which are used in a wide variety of applications, including drinking water purification, irrigation, and industrial processes, among others.

Worked great. Fit my 10†x 4.5†filter housing (size of the filter) just fine. Still took a lot to wrench it open, though.

The tool in itself was great; we just had a difficult time loosening the thing that holds the dirty filter. We had to completely take it apart and bring it from under the house where it was located to loosen it using a hammer.

Had applied Lyn’s to o-ring and threads of “big blue†and always try not over tighten when installing. Well, apparently too much muscle last time and filter housing was stuck this filter change. Proved too much for this wrench which felt flimsy and quickly snapped. Ended up using a strap wrench to remove the filter housing.

I use the Pentair spanner wrench to remove the filter housing from my system. The spanner wrench makes the good so much easier and faster. It is sturdy and will last.

Define what "fits" please. Going halfway up the filter does not loosen this filter due to the torque binding the filter while trying to remove. I borrowed one from a neighbor with a Big Blue, their wrench had 4 tabs and an inner diameter of just over 6 inches and slid up to the top of the blue case correctly.This wrench advertised for Big Blues is 5 3/4 inches with 6 tabs. My neighbor's fits to the top and easily loosens my filter, this new one from this seller does not. Do not buy for Big Blues, keep searching as I must. CHeers.
