I researched Stainless Steel water filters for a while before I decided to buy this one. Here are the reasons for purchasing it:1) It has a place to drain the water pressure on the filter canister when it is time to change the filter. This makes it easy to remove the canister nut.2) There is a spring to push the filter up from the bottom. This helps push the filter up tight to the top and bottom for a good fit if the filter purchased is made a little shorter. The down side is you really have to push the canister up to get the nut started on the canister. After installing the filter we can really tell the difference in our well water. The water is a lot better.Be sure to add something to lubricate the stainless steel threads to keep the stainless from galling. You will be glad you did.

Nice solid filter housing, but mounting bracket is flimsy. However, it's so reasonably priced compared to its' alternatives I would purchase again.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but this deserves one. Over the years I have replaced about 4 plastic filter housings due to cracking or leaking. I found this one after looking for a better alternative, and I am VERY impressed with the quality, and 100% confident this will never need to be replaced again. It's a little tough to press the hosuing on and get the ring screwed on due to the spring pressure, but do-able. I wish it came with two of the rods used to tighten/loosen the filter ring, but easy to make another one.

The outside of the casting for the manifold is nicely polished, but the inside is unprocessed or maybe sand blasted and not thoroughly cleaned. I polished it myself as much as I could, but having a rough interior surface for a water filter product is not ideal. It's a hefty and solid housing in any event, but I would have just preferred it if they finished the interior of the casting.

Looks nice will need some jell on the seals otherwise it is difficult to tighten and keep from leaking. Works great on my boiler system.

14 years ago I put in dual whole house water filters. At that time I used Dupont plastic filter housings. They were advertised for 25 to 100 psi. My homes psi is 94. They lasted 2 years before one exploded.Replaced them with Culligan. One cracked the lower screw on portion in about a year creating a leak. I bought a 3rd housing and swapped the lower section. About eight months later the second one cracked in exactly the same place. I have replaced both housings a total of five times since the original installation also trying AO Smith, Geekpure and Aquapoon housings. When the fifth set gave up the ghost last night I started to order another set of plastic housings. Then I stopped in my tracks when I realized I had spent well over $300 on housings plus had to repeat many hours of arduous installation each time.I am close to 80 years old now and I don't want to keep replacing filter housings any more.So I ordered these. For everything I need to finish the install including brass bushings to prevent electrolysis between the stainless and the copper I spent $231 plus tax.I haven't received them yet but I feel optimistic that this will finally be the last filter installation I ever have to do.The lesson I have learned is don't cut corners. Spend the money up front and save a lot of grief. If for some reason they don't last I'll let you know.UPDATE: Just finished the install and I am very pleased. I expect that this will last a lot longer than me.The one thing I should mention is that when you install the filter elements there is a spring in the bottom of the housing that pushes the elements up against the top section. This spring is pretty stiff and that makes it difficult to hold the lower section in place while starting the threads on the retaining ring, especially for old shaking hands like mine. I fixed this by creating a clamp out of 2 pieces of plywood and a couple of 15 inch long all thread to hold the lower section in place while installing the retaining ring.Hope this helps you.
