I'm using this filter as an odor filter in a plasma machine.

This is a 100% metal water filter and seems to be of good quality. It also has a pressure relief screw that isn't clearly pictured as an added bonus. The price can't be beat.

I have 3 of these in line for whole house filtering. All 3 were leaking either from pressure relief bolt on top or between head unit and threaded ring. Difficult to align filter as there is barely a bump in bottom to keep filter centered. Actually left these isolated running water through bypass loop. Eventually disassembled everything and started from scratch. Only to end up with as many, if not more, leaks as before. Abandoned again in disgust. Finally decided to try 1 more time. Not only disassembled completely but cleaned every piece including threads on nipples. Thorough research suggested that often, stainless to stainless thread joints could be sealed with 4-6+ wrap of Blue Monster PTFE tape and a very light application of Blue Monster PTFE รขโฌลpipe dopeรขโฌย only at start of threads. Actually used this same technique on pressure relief bolts as they had previously leaked AND I have separate pressure relief valve that depressurizes all 3 filters when they are isolated. This time I ended up with all leaks in my connections fixed, but 2 of 3 housings were still leaking from threads between sealing ring and head unit. Opened and realigned them and it fixed one. After multiple attempts on last leaker, I decided that I should try to replace the silicone seals (one gasket and one o-ring). Found nothing on Amazon. Started searching web and found website of the seller, Intbuying. Found same housings, but no seals. Sent email inquiring about seals and mentioned that if price was not outrageous I might be interested in 4 sets of seals (replacing one now and a spare for each of my 3 housings).Received a reply in about 24 hours stating that the seals were available @ $5 for each set, so $20 for the 4 sets I inquired about (and I was pleasantly surprised at what I thought was a very reasonable price). Then the BOMBSHELL. They had to ship from their warehouse in China AT AN APPROXIMATE COST OF $32. I replied that if a more reasonable shipping cost for an envelope most probably under 1 pound was not found, I would be throwing all of their product in the trash and buying something that I could verify would have parts readily available in the USA. LIKE MANY OTHER REVIEWS CITING THE NON-RESPONSIVE NATURE OF THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE, I HAVE RECEIVED NO REPLY TO MY LAST EMAIL.BUYER BEWARE! Read all the reviews carefully.

UPDATE: I am changing my rating from four stars to two. I have had two of these filter housings for more than a year, and the hopes I had of them being acceptable have long passed. The biggest issue is that the pressure relief screw on the top of the housing is NOT stainless, so when I went to change the filters (on both units), the filter housing was full of black, nasty crud. Not only was it gross, but obviously this will greatly reduce your filter life. Of course, replacing the screw with a stainless replacement is relatively easy, but that is something that should be on the manufacturer, not the person who buys the item and only realizes this shortcoming 6 months later when they go to change the filter. On one of the units, the screw had completely corroded away on the inside. I imagine had it gone a little longer, the screw would have failed completely and water would have been pouring out all over the place until it was discovered. Since I specifically got these for "heavy duty" applications in RV's and vacation properties, the possibility of the pressure screw failing and pouring water everywhere for who knows how long is obviously a deal breaker. The second issue is the lack of a "placement ring/knob" on the bottom of the filter container. I thought I would be able to simply the deal with playing the game of getting it in the right place each time I changed a filter (since it doesn't have to happen that often), but without a lower "nub" to keep the filter in place, it is *really* difficult to get the filter to stay centered while screwing the housing back together. Not only is this frustrating and time consuming, but it turns out to get really expensive when you are using $50 filters and the filter shifts over just slightly while screwing the housing back on and the filter gets crimped or bent. I ruined two filters this way. That's more than the cost of the whole unit, and pushed me beyond my patience. I have removed both filter housings and will not be using them any longer. I do not recommend these at all.My plastic Culligan filter housing under my kitchen sink broke in the middle of the night (resulting in three inches of water standing on my cork floors), so I began the search for a METAL water filter housing. I am also restoring a couple of Airstreams, and wanted a metal filter housing to use in those applications as well. Many of the stainless steel filter housing choices are well over a hundred dollars, and even up to the six and seven hundred dollar range, which seems pretty ridiculous for a very standardized item (10" filter housing) machined out of stainless steel. With the mediocre reviews of this particular filter housing, I took a bit of a gamble on this item, knowing it probably wouldn't be super user-friendly. But it was actually better than I expected. The canister has a dimple on the inside bottom that does make installing the filter difficult. If that dimple were a ring, or even just flatter like many other plastic filter housings, it would be a lot easier to seat the filter. Also, as another reviewer has mentioned, the 1/2" threaded NPT inlet and outlet were just slightly larger than they should be, so they leaked a little when I first installed the housing. The situation was easily remedied by using more teflon tape than I normally would, but I can verify that simply using more tape *will* take care of the situation. So, while the item isn't perfect, at the eighty-dollar price point, I will be ordering a few more of these for my RV applications. I just have to keep in mind that the intake/outlet ports need more Teflon tape than usual, and it takes a little longer to make sure the filter is seated correctly when replacing the filter each time (but that only happens every six months, so I can live with it for the lower price of the item).p.s. The mounting bracket is a little flimsy (thinner metal than I'd like), but it works.

I was a little concerned about leakage based on other reviews but have had no issues. Filters are easy to replace & these appear to be built well. Mine are outdoors in full sun, so far they are holding up to the weather.

I used this filter in my laundry room on the washing machine. This filter looks great, and filter housing is very solid, it seals good and was easy to install. My only complaint is the mounting bracket, which is made of stainless steel, butis to thin of material.

Unit seems solid and heavy enough to stand up to use on a boiler system.Problem with order is I ordered the 3/4" FIP inlet unit but you sent the 1" inletone which is about $10.00 cheaper. In other words you shipped the wrong one .You still owe me some money!

I used teflon tape on 3/4" inlet & outlet, 5 wraps rather than the usual 3 wraps; it leaked. Took it all apart, tried 8 wraps so that little of the threads could be seen due to so much tape: still leaks, a drip every second. I wonder if this isn't NPT, but actually BSPT (R)? Similar to NPT, but different enough to leak. This adapter may be needed: https://www.amazon.ca/Reducing-Bushing-Fitting-Connector-Adapter/dp/B09MQ3D16VSecondly, there is a stainless filter recommended as a pairing, but it is for the taller filter, not the shorter one. Buyer beware. The flash chrome (not stainless bleed screw appears to have been replaced by stainless; needed excessive tightening to stop leak.
