Finely machined solid nut runs smoothly to secure legs exactly to dimension. Divider points are hardened 50-55 HRC for increased wear resistance. The 3rd set of machinists caliper/dividers I tried in a short period, the quality is really there with these. Very accurate and a joy to hold in your hand. Sadly it seems like tool quality like this is disappearing. My only beef is that the orange vinyl set case is fairly chintzy; I would have liked to see something more durable like zip up courdura, or an ABS plastic case with foam inside - even a waxed cotton roll up or wallet would be much more durable and reflect this Eastern European craftsmanship. Still, to some these may seem expensive - but these are quality tools at a great value!

The tools themselves are well made, sturdy, and do the job. The carrying case on the other hand is made of thin, flimsy plastic and will not last (this is the only reason I did not give "Sturdiness" a five star rating). Mine arrived with a huge tear in one of the tool pockets rendering it useless. If buying for the tools alone, you will not be disappointed. If the carrying case is important to you, plan on spending additional money on a better case.

I use them for hobby work. Didn't need rocket precision and yet I hate to have something that falls apart when you look at it. These do the job.

Well made. I imaging they’ll last a long time. Case was torn and doesn’t seem like it will hold up.

The plastic package that holds the tools was badly torn. Cannot udmse it to hold the tools.

Over kill for casual wood worker etc. Very solid feel when picking these up. Lots of spring tension. When opening up all 3 pieces to larger diameter, the moving leg hangs up on the threaded screw (see pic where I am pointing). I manually moved each to their largest opening, several times and you can feel the barrel rubbing on the screw. It did get better after several opening and closing actions. Hope the screw doesn't get burnished over time and the thread gets damaged.

I bought a more expensive set from another manufacturer. This set is better. Like the quality.

Ordered this caliper set and received promptly the next day. Upon opening I found the outside caliper to be poorly assembled/manufactured. The tips of a caliper must meet precisely and accurately to function accurately.The outside caliper in my set exhibits very poor quality; the tips do not align correctly and accurately. It appears one side of the caliper is longer (or shorter) than the other side. This could be in the way the caliper legs are made, or machined.........however the final fitting should insure the tips are ground properly so that they meet precisely and accurately; MINE DO NOT.What Groz did to make the tips half way align, is to bend the very end of the tip outward so that it somewhat matches the other leg. Rather than replace (or properly grind) the tips........they simply took the easy route and bent the tip outward in an effort to correct the defect.Possibly I could regrind the tips to get them to align/match correctly, but then I would have a reworked tool. In addition the black finish would be ground away in the rework area.I was truly seeking much better quality in these calipers; especially after reading the glowing reviews. We will see if Groz responds to my complaint and corrects the defective outside caliper. These tools are new and unused.......they have not been damaged in shipment or handling.........simply manufactured poorly.Update Nov 14, 2019. As a follow up on this caliper I wish to thank Amazon for stepping up and replacing the outside caliper out of pure goodwill. Groz has never even responded to my message about the quality issue, nor have they offered any assistance. Amazon did this on their own without help from the manufacturer. By the way Groz is an India based organization............so I'm not surprised on their lack of assistance or communication.

With the first set I received the outside calipers did not hold and slipped open. They were easily returned and promptly replaced. No issues with the replacement set.
