This Skimmer Basket works very well, and it was a much better price than our local pool store, who often doesn't have the items we need. Another pool store tried to sell us a similar basket, but the quality was not as good as the one sold by this merchant on Amazon.

This was a replacement for a broken/cracked skimmer basket. I wanted one with the long arm so I didn't have to reach so far into the skimmer to pull it out, and this one is perfect. A perfect fit, and seems to be made well so I expect it to last a long time.

This is a nice skimmer basket, with a bit of weight (a good thing). However, it's the tower that makes this one special. During leaf season, I empty my baskets twice a day and they're still completely full. The tower's first benefit is that with the top of the tower above the water line, there's still suction for your pool pump. That's a nice thing. But the biggest benefit? On cold winter mornings, you no longer have to stick your arm in the water to lift the skimmer basket out of the water. You can even do this wearing gloves. That's a win from my POV!

The strainer works fine but the handle isn’t made very well the handle came apart and I had to replace it within a year

This is NOT a paid review. Every time a pool customer needs a skimmer basket, this is my go-to replacement basket. This basket will last many years. I like the easy-to-reach handle, it is heavy duty, and is a good value. When you first receive the basket, unscrew the middle handle and remove the rod and then screw the handle back on. The rod inserts into the two holes on the inside of the basket for added strength. The rod also acts as a second handle to allow you to remove the basket when it is VERY full and suctioned to the inside of the skimmer. If your pool gets a LOT of debris, fill the handle with rocks before you screw it back on. The added weight prevents floating debris from causing the basket to float up and out of place. Most pools do not need the added weight. Do not add metal for weight as most metals rust. Use smooth rocks if possible. When you empty the basket, do not bang the handle down to get the stuff out or this will eventually break the basket. I simply place the full basket into my net, submerse into the pool, and remove the basket and net together with the basket upside down and the debris falls into the net with the help of the pool water. If you do not mistreat it, this basket will last 10+ years.

Follow Up - 2017-04-03 - After more than a year of use, these skimmer baskets are still in perfect shape. We've had no issues with the handles coming out or coming apart and have had them so full of those stupid oak things that look like pipe cleaners, only the handle tubes could allow water through. It is awesome not having to stick my whole arm down into the skimmers (we have two of them) to grab the baskets. Do yourself a favor and get these skimmer baskets. You will be so glad you did!If you have an in-ground pool - you need this product! We recently bought a house with an in-ground pool. My previous experience had been with an above-ground pool. After stooping, bending, and digging leaves out of not 1, but 2 skimmers, I was over it. This neat basket saved the day. No more digging around getting leaves out. No more loss of suction because the skimmer basket is full. Just reach in, grab the long handle and dump the basket it out. Voila!!!! Best money I ever spent on a pool product! And, I'm not sure what the heck people had in these things to break the handle, but it had to be more than just leaves. The handle "screws" into the basket and seems very sturdy to me. Mine have been in place now for about a month. Down in the deep south, we maintain our pool all year. So far, so good. will update at a future date.

Many have commented on the build quality and sturdiness of the product, and I agree. It is we'll thought out and made. It also has a small weight built in so it will not float upwards when th pump is off.I ordered it knowing it was about 1/4 inch too wide (radius) to slide past the top opening of my skimmer. As planned, when it arrived I tested it, and sure enough it would have been an ongoing hassle to jam it in and yank it out.Using nipper pliers I was able to trim the perimeter top flange. Then I used a hand held orbital sander to remove some points that remained around the rim. 10 minutes in all (once I figured out the method), and the basket works like a charm.Since my unground skimmer is set deeply, I used to have to bring a foam pad out to the pool, kneel down, reach in to elbow, and then hand clean the debris so I could pull up the old style basket. Swarming ants, occasional dead frogs, live snakes, angry floating bees etc. Now I can just bend down and pull the full basket up by the handle. OMG.
