I own an induction stove and Bialetti Stovetop Expresso maker made of solid stainless steel for inductions stoves. But sadly the stove (burners) did not even recognize the small base of the expresso maker (UGH!!). After some research and reading reviews, I bought this heat diffuser plate which is heavy enough (solid stainless steel) and large enough for the burner and the expresso maker. I use MED to slightly high heat and within 10 - 15 min (using cold water) coffee is percolating. Once coffee is done, I place the diffuser on a cork trivet to cool down (about 20 min). I also use with some pots I own that are induction ready which my stove does not recognize either (I'm not happy with this new stove...hahaha). The pots cook perfectly. There is no need to use HIGH heat since the diffuser quickly gets VERY hot . I hand wash (if needed) after it is completely cool. If the diffuser is placed in cold water while it is very hot, it will warp and get damaged. Also, the handle remains cool at all times no matter how hot the diffuser gets -- which is really helpful.

Updated 2/27: I was able to restore the glass on the cooktop using Weiman Glass Cook Top Cleaner and Polish and one of their special scrubbing pads. But I still strongly urge you to skip this product. I will never use it again.I used it on my brand new induction cooktop and it has ruined the ceramic glass top by emitting some kind of substance that has stained the cooktop. It has left almost a complete ring of discoloration that will not come off. I'm returning the item and looking into suing the manufacturer.

Debated on sizing. This fits perfectly on the large burner of my electric stove. And it fits perfectly within the large circle of my convection hot plate. Espresso pot handle should not overheat, while the pot itself will be in no danger of tipping over on the stove top. Pots & pans that are unsuitable for the convection hot plate will become useable.
