Using to heat a water hose that stays on and so far it has kept it thawed out at a low of 14 degrees without using insulation over it. I used zip ties to secure it to the hose in a straight pattern. It does “hump up” off of the hose in places but that hasn’t affected the use.

I believe that the heating cable will work very well; however, living in the deep south it has not be truly challenged yet.

I first purchased this item in 2017 & it lasted eight years. I did expect it to last just five or six years so I am pleased. I know it has it's own thermostat, but I have it on a Sonoff TH-16 with temp probe so I can monitor the temperature and when the tape turns on / off. This unit protects my main water line and water meter, which had cost me $160.00 to replace when it froze in the past. Having the Sonoff in control let me know that this tape had reached it's end of life, and saved be a lot of money. This tape is awesome, and the $26.99 cost of this tape + the $30.48 cost of Sonoff, including extension cable, was well worth it.

this product is exactly what is advertised. i ordered one that is too long. i will re apply it in the spring when its warm outside. my only issue is i can't determine if it is working. the light is on, but does not feel warm to the touch. i applied it in about 20 degree (f) weather.

I didn't have to wrap the heat tape around the pipes but just one linear continued application on all my water pipes. It has kept my water pipes from freezing even in temperatures in the low 20s Fahrenheit. We are expecting colder weather down in the teens very soon and I'm confident that I will not have frozen or busted pipes like I normally do each year. Thank you it's an excellent product. PS it's easy to install running one straight line and attaching with duct tape or zip ties but making sure the heat tape is securely flat against the water pipes. I can look at it my well pump and see the light indicating the heat tape is on especially when I know it's going to be freezing overnight. Great value. Thank you

The advertisement and the box state how easy this heating cable is to install, making you believe there is not hassle. However, what is NOT said is that there is a caveat. In small print on the first page of the instructions, it reads under GENERAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: "! Important: Materials required. 1/2 inch Fiberglass or equivalent non-flammable pipe insulation with vapor seal." There are further drawings of the thermostat being wrapped up in insulation to the water pipe. There is NO indication of this REQUIREMENT on the HEATIT box it came in or in the advertisement of the product. Even on the front page of the "Guide or Use and Care" that comes with the HEATIT heating cable, the thermostat is shown without an insulation! I have seen others have said how easy this was to install and I would agree BUT for the extra caveat of the required insulation around the thermostat. FURTHERMORE, it would seem that as long as the temps in the area that you want to use the HEATIT cable drop to 38 degrees, the thermostat would trigger the heat cable to heat up. Found out later that that is not correct. The thermostat must be secured to the coldest water pipe. It cannot be trusted to pick up the temp from the air, only a water pipe. There is even a video from a customer doing a review and he speaks of how easy the cable is to install on water lines in his basement. There is no mention of the thermostat requiring the insulation in his video and you don't see any insulation. I am wondering now how many customers who thought this was so easy to install, and who did not mention the insulation of the thermostat required will find out too late, after their pipes froze. Tonight, after I have spent hours over the past few days trying to make adjustments install this heating cable correctly, it does not work. The temps tonight are below freezing and the plug-in is fully lit up but the heating cable has no warmth. Before anyone questions my electrical outlet, 2 electricians have examined and affirm that the electric outlet is secure and accurate.
