Bought this for my father so he doesn't need to crack the ice off his front stoop in the winter. So far it has worked great and helps keep the entrance safe and open for everyone.

Snow comes off our roof "avalanche style" and it blocks the door trapping us inside. This is now in front of the door and it quickly melts any snow or ice that lands on it! We have a second mat on the crawl space cover; we needed to access the crawl space once when it was covered with 5 feet of snow, but this mat keeps it clear. These are safety concerns that are now solved by using these mats.

After two seasons of use next to my front door, I’m happy to report that the heat mat works very well!I keep the mat outside all winter, and put it away for the summer. During the winter, I only turn it on when snow is expected and turn it off once my landing is clear of snow / ice. Also, I shift it around a couple of feet this way and that way to get the landing completely ice free.While not inexpensive, I definitely would buy it again if it ever stops working. The peace of mind I get from knowing nobody is going to fall by my front door is priceless. I’m considering buying a couple of the stair tread mats too, since I only have 3 steps.Now I’m wishing they made these durable enough for driveway use to clear up the icy patches. While it would certainly would work there, the concern of it breaking from getting run over by a delivery driver it too great.

I need to be able to string my mats together to save on power outlets, and these pads did not have female plugs, so I am returning them.

I Iive in an area that gets a lot of snow in the winter so we are always looking for something to make the task of clearing it easier. From a light dusting to a couple of inches these mats do the trick. They will work with heavier snow fall (like that from lake effect snow) you just have to give it time to catch up. Keep track of where the power is in case you do want to shovel snow off of it. I can see where it would be possible to break it off. I have not seen any ice build up on the edges yet..When turned on the mat is warm to the touch and is always on when plugged in. I picked up an extension cord with a remote to turn the mats on and off as needed.

I returned the first mat and ordered another. This one works great and no problems whatever.The mat I received from Heattrak does not work. Or, if it does it didn’t melt snow on it when outdoor temperature was 30 degrees. Also, the connector at the mat from the power plug doesn’t lock in place and easily comes disconnected. When it does the green light on the power supply remains green making me think it was connected. I am going to return it.

I had Heat Trax for many years when I had a home business and had people coming to my door. I wanted them to be safe, and the mats did their job. This new, large mat is for the gate entrance to my deck to help with snow clearance, and it worked great in the first storm. I had many comments through the years on the mats & I sang the praises.

I have outside my front door, doesn’t seem to work. Have shoveled snow off every time it snows, have pushed reset button, power light is always on but does not melt the snow.

My wife feeds the birds in our backyard. The seed she puts out keeps getting covered every time it snows. I have put the heating pad on top of a small shed. The snow melts and the seed is always available. In addition it is a nice warmer place for the birds to eat than in the deep snow.

We really like it. We don't know if it makes a difference about which side is up. The wind tends to blow the snow to our front door, and the frozen eaves usually leave a pool of ice. That is no longer a problem. When we try to move the mat to where there is a section of ice, it takes a really, really long time for this mat to melt it.
