I bought both this 3"and the 4" version to test out for my camper van. One I will use for my composting toilet. The other I will use for air movement in the main living space until the AC cools down the van. The 3" is a little louder than the 4" but the 3" cranks out way more air than the 4". You can always dial back the 3" to a very quiet hum and even with the lowest speed setting, you get plenty of air flow for the composting toilet. Since the toilet is also in the sealed shower room with a large ceiling, I will need more air vents from outside the room so that when the ceiling fan is on, I can crank up the 3" to avoid back flow air through the composting toilet. The 4" fan is nice but I almost want to use the 3" fan for airflow in the main living space since it makes a better breeze. Even though it is a little louder. The noise is not really bad. Slightly more than the AC noise. only due to the higher frequency which you can turn down as needed. the 3" needs 2.75" pipe adapter to MSTR with a 2” pipe. ~$10 each.https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BQW8W49Q/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A34RJ9S07AUY15&psc=1

We try to buy from the Ma and Pa places on here.Being disabled . We need to be price conscious. At "The Mother In Laws Place"It is an off-grid cabin, we run DC on a lot of things . We see no need to use the inverter 24/7. just so you can turn on a light when you come home .We use LED bulbs in ceiling mount fixtures that are marked 12-volt DC only. These are controlled by controller with a FOB remote. The controller is board mounted on our PV control center .We use a few of the controllers for different rooms to control each ceiling light .We also run the kitchen stove exhaust fan with DC .The fresh air intake system for combustion is DC .These are fused in our DC only fuse center . This fuse center is controlled by a service disconnect at the DC master box .We also run two AC fuse boxes on our PV board . One protects various AC 110 volt circuits in the cabin , garage and sauna .The other protects 220 volt circuits from the aux gen set and to the split ac/heat pump and the aux battery charger for when the PV and hopefully soon to be wind generated power are not enough to keep up.We run 8 - 6volt Rolls batteries tied by Buss bars .They are temperature and voltage monitored on the PV board and by the inverter unit. The power is inverted by a Renogy 3000 .It also has a multi stage charger built it with flow through capability .These are almost all protected by Breakers purchased here .We have a remote shallow well system that we use a soft start unit on .It lessens the instant draw on the system .It is all about power management. This is a semi detailed , general description of some of the off grid power systems we use . I am going to add this review to each one of the parts bought on here .

Pros: Fairly quiet at half speed from the outside of the vent pipe. Pushes a lot of air.Motor runs smoothly throughout the speed range.fairly small footprint. No idea of longevity. I'm running half speed continuously for two days now.Cons: You can hear some noise when it is running much like a bathroom or vent hood. At high speed it would make a lot of noise like a vent hood on high.It is about 1/8" less than 6 inches in diameter. Metal A/C tape is required.

This does exactly what I need, well!Wanted a forced air duct from my sun room (lots of windows/poor insulation) to the basement, pulling cold winter air or hot summer air down to be conditioned by the furnace/AC. Also to create airflow from the rest of the house in that direction to keep the rest of the home from being affected by that air, offering a preferred path of return air to the furnace/AC.This worked perfectly; initially it was a little noisy (if being VERY picky) but I ran ~12' of flexy hose (the type with the wire coil and flexible plastic) before the fan, and put plenty of twists and bends in it. Works practically silently now even at higher speeds. My home is much more comfortable without having the noisy forced air and AC kick on so much. Been running for months now without any issues. Love the speed control unit too, easy to install somewhere accessible and extend the cable if needed.

The worst purchase of 2024! Super cheap “full plastic build “ not recommended.
