The gas struts worked to hold up a 80lb cellar door. In all honesty, installing these things are a pain in the ass because you need like the perfect strength gas struts for it to work well. It's probably better to do the math and get a very specific weighted custom gas strut but I had no time for that. This one worked for my application through mostly trial and error but I think going with half the weight of the object or the weight to lift it is a good estimate to start with.

They worked great but we found out where we were going to use them in our motor home we could not use them there so we are stock with them because and cannot use them any place else so they are just laying there in my garage

I used these for a large lid on a custom tool bench. The lid was about 35 pounds total so I thought these might be overkill, but they seemed to work well... At first.. Then one side started to fail and is now not working very well... This started to happen right after the return window closed so I'm now going to have to try and find something to replace them...EDIT: The seller reached out and gave me a full refund and made it right in my eyes, therefore I'm changing my rating to 4 stars.

I also received a pair of evidently over extended units. I too was hoping for a better lift assist in a motorhome under bed storage. My units appeared new and undamaged. I was unable to compress either unit but the instruction sheet said that could be true. Installed the 1 new unit and dropped the bed down. It shut down easily but broke the cheezy 'bego wood strip. Removed, reinstalled old worthless unit and tossed into my pile of worthless unreturnable amazon items. Bought in winter so the return window closed. Will try another unit from somewhere else! They looked nice. Would have used one and had the other for a spare!

Product was exactly as described. I used the shocks on the lid of an outdoor TV case that I built, these shocks are really smooth and hold the door up perfectly. Very happy with my purchase.
