This is my second one. The first broke after many years. The unit is easy to install and really works.

This was delivered today and I immediately installed it on my 2002 Chevy Silverado LT 3500 crew cab Duramax.The install was straightforward and quick. The tailgate of my truck is quite heavy and I have a thick, solid rubber tailgate protector, to boot.The operation is very smooth and the gate opens and closes without any problems whatsoever.For roughly half the price of another popular brand, I can’t see spending more for the same exact effect.I highly recommend this tailgate shock absorber! 😄Update;I’ve had this for a few months now and it’s still working great. I should have bought this years ago. 😉

Update 11/16/2023: The seller has reached out to me and issued a full refund. I am updating this review just to include this information. Due to the good customer service, I am changing my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. Keep in mind, they did not ask me to change my review, nor was it a condition of my refund to do so. All they did was reach out and ask if I wanted a refund or a new product, I opted for the refund since I had already purchased a new tailgate assist of a different brand for my truck. The original review remains unedited below. Obviously, I was pretty angry when I wrote it, but I'm happy everything worked out in the end.I bought one of these a few months ago for my 2004 GMC Sierra 1500. It worked alright for a while, until it didn't. Several weeks ago, it completely stopped working. I opened my tailgate and let it fall, as I had grown accustomed to doing, and the tailgate slammed down with zero resistance. After returning to this page and noticing some of the absolutely ridiculous claims this company is making, I decided to make a review on it. 1) Despite what they're telling you, it's not going to make it easier to close your tailgate, it only slows the tailgate down when you open it and helps prevent it from slamming (Until it breaks, that is).2) Claiming it (and I quote) "extend(s) the service life of the entire back end of your vehicle" is such an insanely outrageous claim that it's almost humorous. I don't think I need to elaborate on that.3) "Rest Easy: This will be the only tailgate shock your truck will ever need. Tested and durable" How much testing did it take to make a product that completely fails after a few months?4) "Orion Motor Tech backs it with a lifetime warranty and after-sales service." Conveniently, there doesn't seem to be any contact information listed where I could take advantage of this "lifetime warranty" and get a replacement for my faulty product. And with a $20 price tag, they're clearly bluffing anyway. Surely if you backed your product and did that much testing to ensure your product was extremely durable, you'd provide contact information or some kind of instruction to talk to customer service, right? Because if you have a superior product, you know not many people will need it, but out of the few that would, it's all about customer feedback. But if you make claims like this and don't back it up, obviously it's because your product is trash.Overall, ignoring the fact that it didn't last very long at all, I actually liked this product a lot. Initially when I installed it, the support cable on the tailgate would get pushed out of the gap, to where it was sticking outside, as some others have mentioned. Turns out it was just because I tightened one of the bolts when it was supposed to be left loose, and loosening the bolt fixed the problem.As tempted as I am to buy another one of these for only $20, I don't see the point in waiting for it to break. If I have to cradle my tailgate every time I open it, anticipating that inevitable moment it stops working, then what's the point in using this product in the first place?Overall, I would not recommend this product. If you do buy it, buy it as a gift for someone you don't like, and in a few months they'll slam their tailgate when the product fails.

I installed this on a 2002 Chevy Silverado and it works great . No more heavy or slamming tailgate.

Some call this thing lazy, but I think it's pretty nifty. Sometimes my hands are full and I don't have the option to let my tailgate down slowly. This allows for that. I have bought this for multiple trucks and they all work the same. My oldest one lasted many years of rough torture and I am surprised even that long. Even if you don't need this, it's something you should get anyway. Super easy install too with great instructions, especially if you check YouTube.

Item works but not as described. The tailgate has got to be moved to completely open position by hand otherwise it'll hang up and stay in semi-opened position; far too tight.

Had it on for about a week. Does what it should, not a lot of tension so the tailgate still lifts easy. Only complaint is if you put the washer on the bottom, the nut sticks out too far and the top nut won’t get tight on your tail gate strap and the shock. Just put the small washer on top and noting on bottom. The bolts also stick out pretty far, will barley touch your truck and the tailgate but the package comes with some clear sticky sheets so it won’t scratch your truck too bad.

This a great little piece of equipment saves your tailgate your arm, Happy Happy and easy to install .

10 months and still working good, the only unexpected thing is that this type is not suitable for Chevy Avalanche 2005, i had to do some modification to make it work.I posted 5 stars 🌟 even the seller did not mention my truck model, it was my decision to order this type.Excellent quality deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
