I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box for the HURRICANE 8" Quick Change Snap Ring Pliers, as I was not expecting they to be as heavy duty as they are.In the box are the HURRICANE 8" Quick Change Snap Ring Pliers, a user guide and a Thank You card. On the bottom of the plier handles is a plastic door that stores 2 extra sets of tips, one straight and one curved. It also contains a small Allen wrench which is used to loosen and tighten the set screws that holds the tips in place.To change the pliers from internal to external setting, you just fold the handles from one side to the other. This may be one of the easiest reversible snap ring pliers I have ever used.The pliers are all metal construction and the handle is nicely padded and feels comfortable in the hands.My only negative, and the reason I took off one star, is that there is no way to lock the handles in the closed position. As a result, the pliers are pretty wide when not in your hand and a little difficult to store in a drawer or in a tool box. I will probably find a strong rubber band or some way to keep the handles closed for storage.Other than that minor issue, I think the HURRICANE 8" Quick Change Snap Ring Pliers are well made and heavy duty and should provide good service for a long time.

I'm sure some people think a woman shouldn't be ordering tools and, in this case, perhaps they were right because these were not exactly what I thought they were. But when I showed them to my son-in-law who just finished a complete overhaul of my daughter's Jeep, he immediately recognized what they were and explained to me what they're for. (I can rehab a house but I'm completely ignorant about cars except for body work.) When he saw they were reversible, "Ohhhhh. Mine doesn't do THAT!" He didn't even know yet about the extra pieces and tiny allen wrench contained in the handles. Even though I can't fully appreciate these tools, I gave them 5 stars based upon how my son-in-law coveted them.

The tips are either 1.8mm tapered, or 1.2mm no taper. Then there is a straight version, and 90 degree version of each.The tapered ones are easier to use since they hold the ring better, but they were too big for a lot of my hand tool snap rings.The reversible design is clever, and looks plenty sturdy. Each grip has a storage compartment to hold the extra tips and a wrench. They rattle around inside.The tool doesn't really have a closed position. The springs always force the handles about 7 inches apart. Makes the a bit awkward to grab, and store compared to smaller snap ring pliers.The storage compartments in each handle work ok. The parts rattle around inside though.

These pliers are great for anyone conscious of their toolbox space. Having both straight and 90 degree pliers in one tool is super convenient for installation and removal of snap rings in any application.

These snap ring pliers are some of the best I have seen yet. They are very well made and are such a clever design.Not only do the pliers work with internal and external snap rings by reversing the orientation of the handles, but they also include another set of smaller tips for both types of snap rings. This extra set including an Allen wrench used to change the tips are located in a small compartment at the end of each handle. You will need a screw driver to open them.There were so many times throughout the years when I could have used this product to make it much easier to remove and install snap rings.These pliers at the cost of only $17 is a real deal so if you are in the market for something like this grab them.

Very creative design with very fast switching of internal to external. This is 8" long with is a little longer than a standard set of snap ring pliers. It comes with 4 sets of tips which are large straight, small straight, large right angle and small right angle. The holes that the tips set in are drilled slightly offset so it takes some pressure to get them to line up on a snap ring hole. The compartment that the extra tips are stored in is a little difficult to open but that means the tips wont easily fall out. This is not a professional grade tool but it is perfect for a Do It Yourselfer.
