A multi-purpose dust and oil resistant gauge! Set the cutting height on your router table, table saw or other Woodworking machines. It can also precisely align your jointer knives or even measure thickness (when placed on a true-Flat surface). The strong magnetic base allows easy mounting to ferrous machine tables or fences. Accurate to within 0.001-Inch. Measurements are read in the large, clear LCD display to 0.0005-Inch, 0.01mm and 1/128-Inch. The stainless steel beam with solid aluminum alloy base keeps the digital height gauge steady while making height adjustments. It can be zeroed at any point. Max measurement height is 6-Inch. Extra battery included.

I bought these for general use in woodworking but needed it specifically this week for marking/scribing a project requiring precise symmetry. I was able to achieve perfect results with this. Some reviews make the comment about difficulty with adjusting the gauge to the thousandths place. I agree that it would be an improvement to have a little adjustment wheel like the calipers but it's not such a big deal I would ding my 5-star rating. I didn't really struggle making minute adjustments as I just use the pinch method to nudge it where I need. Squeeze just above or below the indicator body such that your fingers are in contact with the body and the rule. When you squeeze a little harder, your fingers will smoosh outward some, providing a soft, very controllable nudge to the gauge. Took just a few seconds to dial in a perfect thou measurement.I chose the iGaging over some other brands because their gauge block is flat sided and will allow me to lay the tool on its side for measuring spacing between a fence and a bit/blade. I also just like iGaging's products. I have quite a few of their measurement tools and setup devices and they're all built really well and none of them have given me any issues through regular use over the past 5 or so years when I first started buying this brand. This appears to be more of the same good stuff I've come to expect from iGaging.

NOTE: I do not receive or accept any consideration for my review. I bought this to do height measurement on model-making parts cut from wood. It works and works well. I put the foam cutout into a Harbor Freight tool box and it is now portable. I can't say how accurate this instrument is, but it is fine for model-making purposes, and most important it is repeatable.

I wanted a height gauge for some time and this seemed like a decent deal. I have used it a little and it seems to work fine, is accurate and worth the price overall. I do read the reviews when I buy and I saw that there were some 1 stars with notes about bad products which I have no doubt happens but it also happens with products costing vastly more than this did. For the price, this does what I need it to do, measure and mark items I am working on/with.

Unless you need more than 6 inches, this inexpensive gauge will be all you need for critical granite surface height measurements.

My measurements have been very repeatable and consistent so far, and it gets the job done on a budget. It works really well for measuring the height of something that has a fixed size, but it's pretty lousy for setting the height of something adjustable. I needed to scribe a line 0.244" high on some metal parts covered in layout fluid. I got there eventually, but man was it annoying. This cheap height gauge has no feed knob of any kind, so you just have to nudge it around by hand. 0.355... 0.280... 0.245... 0.245... Tap... 0.165. Ugh! 0.480... 0.295... 0.249... 0.2455... 0.245... 0.2445... Tap... 0.1925. REALLY? 0.287..... Getting that last half a thousandth is the really hard part. That's hard enough to do on a digital dial caliper with a thumb wheel, but with this thing, the difficulty is off the charts. I think I fooled around for 20 minutes before I finally got it dialed in. Sheesh!I came back to this review to take away another star, because this thing just gobbles batteries. I don't use this every day, and every time I have ever taken it out of the box to use it, I've had to install a new battery. I finally wised up and took the battery out of it before the last time I put it on the shelf. Maybe I can get more uses out of the battery that way. In comparison to the digital Mittutoyo stuff I've gone on to buy, the power management on this iGaging unit is laughable. That's the trade off with the cheap Chinese electronic measuring stuff, vs. the expensive Chinese measuring stuff. It is what it is I guess. I'm not going out to buy a more expensive height gauge, because I don't use it that often anyway. Caveat emptor and all that.

Wanted to have a height/depth gauge to measure the height of routers in my router table.Checked different gauges (there are special gauges around with 2 "feet"), but was choosing finaly this one as because of high quality and awsome ratings. This one is made of metal and provides a range up to ~150mm. Measurements are reproducible and exact up to 10µm (0,01mm). Can be used to measure height and depth of a router in a table router very exactly.Only weakness from my point of view is the energy source (coin-cell, no AA or AAA-battery), but there is an on/off switch integrated so probably not necessary to change batteries so often.Highly recommended!
