I purchased this cable for one function: to capture HDV video from my cameras onto my PC. For this purpose, they work perfectly. The length of the cable allows me a lot of versatility with where I can place my tripod and camera rig while still hooked up to my laptop. It has certainly made my life a bit easier for life-streaming videos over the web as well as bypassing the need to use minidv tapes for short projects.For the purpose of live capturing HDV footage from prosumer and consumer cameras, this cable is an exceptional bargain.

I like the 15 foot wire so I dont have to have my laptop next to the video camera when Im recording.I also like how stable it was connected to my port,a different wire I had would easily loosen itself and fall out if you touched the wire.

This cable is 15 feet and that gives me freedom to place my camcorder further away from my laptop to have a better angle. Both ends of the cable plug in the camcorder and laptop ports tight (tighter than my other firewire cable, which to me is a good thing). The cable arrived fast. It had heavy plastic smell when I opened the package but that smell went away soon.

I too bought this cable for my Flex 5000a ham radio. I found NO difference in the RF shielding than in the $7 cable I was having problems with. Both worked after putting 8 ferrites on the cables. It is a bit thicker, but bending it reveals an internal void inside the jacket.

The cable arrived on time and worked as advertised. It is a 9pin to 6pin firewire cable. It is an inexpensive molded end variety. It is not priced as, nor expected to be, Mogami. For what it is, it deserves 5 stars.

This is a good cable, and it works. We're using it to to dock tapes using a HDV deck, its nice to have the 10ft length if your working with a laptop, it gives you some room to move around.
