Purchased to install ACT sensor on an Explorer GT40 intake (aluminum). Worked like a charm. No need to pay extra to the intake that already has this hole tapped. Don't forget to buy a 37/64" drill bit.

I only needed it to rethread an aluminum bung, but I would be very careful with this if it was going into stainless or something that work-hardens, since it’s not as sharp as it could be.I wonder if they are shipped in bulk and not individually protected?

Tapapotimous. It cut, it tap, it slap. To tap a hole, I would use this instead of a cheeseburger every time.

I used this tap on an aluminum casting. I found the tap to be of excellent quality, and made a clean cut. I do believe that in certain situations the upper extreme of the tapping surface may be to large of a diameter to accommodate a tight plug fit. So if you are using this tap for a drain or pipe plug, watch that you dont go too far, or your plug will never "seat" leaving you with a leak, or worse yet, a plug that over travels into the case or pipe. I would purchase this tap again, without hesitation.

I don't know about heavy duty use, but this tap performed well for the task it was assigned. I needed to put an NPT fitting in a piece of HDPE plastic and this tap, for the price, did the job.
