Can't be used as a prefilter for Versa Flow Light-Weight Water Filter System - Hollow Fiber Inline or Straw Filter for Survivor and Emergency Filtration by HydroBlu. It's threads are not compatible. It probably works fine on HydroBlu pump system but that's not what I hoped to use it for.

Its threads match the top of a Sawyer Squeeze but there's a 1/4" portion centered between the threads on the inlet side that you have to remove. If you don't remove, it interferes with a similar plastic feature on the outlet of the Sawyer Squeeze. I used a razor blade to get it close and then used a dremel tool to smoothe it out. AFter that, it fits right on top the Sawyer, so it's second stage after the Squeeze. Shove a small piece of cotton down the 1/4" before cutting to eliminate shards of plastic getting into the inlet. I checked with Hudroblu and they confirmed that this would be the proper direction to run water through their filter. Additionally, I needed a gasket on the inlet and outlet of the Hydroblu filter to prevent leaks. Great flow rate with the Squeeze and Hydroblu connected as I describe!!!!!
