Making tines longer (from the point where they are held down on the bridge) will lower their pitch, and making them shorter will make their pitch higher.

We love it! Bought for Christmas, arrived on time, the sound is beautiful, which is what I was most worried about esp for one on the cheaper end. Sound is lovely. It’s a nice piece of wood as well, I thought it might be cheap and light weight but it has weight to it. We love playing our instruments, this is an awesome addition!

Got this Kalimba to just play around with, expecting it to be like the other kalimbas I've had in the past. Boy was I wrong. Starting from the presentation and packaging I already knew it was going to be different. Once removed from the well packed box and separated from all it's goodies, I marveled at the fantastic wood finish on the case. I proceeded to grab my tuner like I had to do with all my previous kalimbas. To my amazement, my tuner was not needed. All keys were perfectly tuned and I was ready to rock and roll (well the best you can on a kalimba). If you're in the market for a kalimba, I implore you to grab this one. Sure most of these look similar, but from experience I assure you this one is superior than others. Not just fit and finish, but overall tone and warmth. Beautiful

This is a wonderful instrument. Small enough to hold in your hands (or put on the table) and plunk the fingers. There are included 2 rubber finger protectors and instructions. This instruments was boxed well and arrived safe from harm. Can’t wait to sit down and actually take some time to learn how to play it. It seems the notes are arranged differently than one would think. Sound is beautiful, tho!

Feels and sounds nice. Cute little instrument with pleasant sound even during quiet time. Nice to meditate on. Three only thing I'm not pleased with is that each key/ metal tongue is slightly loose enough so that they are able to sometimes become to close and touch the other one next to it.

The Kalimba is VERY easy to learn how to play especially if the user has any prior experience reading music. However the numbering system on the keys would help those just learning as well. This particular one arrived 2 days ago in tune & so far has remained in tune. Much more beautiful in person than pictures and much higher quality feel than I expected it to be given the price. So far I am very pleased with the product and highly recommend getting a song book along with it as well.

Small and light to take everywhere. Prior to this, I had an 8-tone one from Europe that I bought to give to my 8 year old nephew. This one looks like it was crafted with care and it sounds good.
