Before buying the hood latch on line for my 1999 Ranger, a garage wanted to charge me $217.43 for the latch plus $98 to install. I called the local Ford dealer and they quoted, I think $210 just for the for the latch. I'm sure Ford stopped making the OEM latch long ago hence the high price. The after market latch I purchased for about $30 +or- is of good quality and easy to install myself. Be careful, garages and dealers are out to rip you if you're not careful.
