I've only used it to drill out a few things, but it worked as expected. Being a cobalt bit it's intended to have an increased life span, but I wasn't able to test it since I'll only use it occasionally. Even if it doesn't have any extra life it still saved me.I cut a number of holes on uneven 1/8 steel sheet metal (I was drilling out pressed-in features so it would lay flat) and it did the job with no problems. Note that I put the bit in a drill-press, but i still expected it to grab the sheet while cutting which it never did.I am happy with my purchase and I'll likely buy it again if needed.

I am winter sowing native perennials to support my local pollinators, birds and butterflies. Instead of using the traditional milk jugs (I don't drink milk), I bought the 6.7 qt. Cetomo plastic containers from here. Of course, needed to drill or burn holes for watering and drainage. I had been using a 1/4" traditional drill bit, but found that if I weren't super careful, it created cracks. From a Facebook Winter Sowing group, heard about step drill bits, and WOW! What a difference! This one isn't quite the cheapest, but it's of a more durable material, and has clear markings for 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" sizes. Goes through the plastic like butter, and after drilling 22 holes x 20 containers today, I can report not a single crack. Hallelujah! Definitely recommend this for drilling plastic, especially all you winter sowers out there.

I was not sure this bit would perform on metal as advertised. I was wrong, it works great on metal electrical boxes!

Worked well enough for every application I've thrown at it. I'm just a hobbyist so it's not seeing daily use, but works well so far.

I was surprised that with this price it did went through an exhaust bolt that broke when I was trying to replace my gasket. I recommend it.
