About this item

  • 【Precision Optics】Crafted from top-tier Japanese optical glass with double-sided 24-layer enhanced coating, this filter reduces surface reflections effectively. This prevents glare caused by external reflections during prolonged exposures, ensuring impeccable image quality.
  • 【Enhanced Water Resistance】Featuring a multi-layer waterproof coating, even if water splashes onto the filter, it remains in droplet form, allowing for easy carrying and cleaning.
  • 【Versatile Light Control】With 1 to 9 stops of adjustable light reduction and 360-degree rotation for precise dimming settings, this filter is perfect for diverse scenarios. (Note: High settings may cause a cross-pattern effect, commonly known as a "black cross." This phenomenon is natural and temporary, occurring due to the adjustable ND filter's interaction with certain lenses and focal lengths.)
  • 【Slim and Secure】At a mere 7.4mm thickness, the CNC-patterned design ensures enhanced friction while rotating, making it easy to attach/detach lenses and accessories anytime, anywhere.
  • 【Glare-Free Surface】Treated with an oxidized sandblasting process, this filter prevents unwanted stray light and minimizes unnecessary reflections on the metal surface. NOTE: This ND filter suits all 49mm lenses. A 52mm lens cap is required for this 49mm variable ND filter.

You can’t beat this nd filter for the price. It’s built well and comes with a protective case and gives you variable stops of nd that you can change on a whim. Usually cheaper nd filters like these have an x cross that displays over the lens but this one doesn’t as far as I know. Definitely recommend for a budget nd filter.

I'm no pro but as a an experienced hobbyist, this is about a perfect sweet spot for me in value. I like having an ND filter as part of my kit but it's also not something I'm using super regularly so I'm not really willing to commit to one of the very expensive high end ones.I would say that if you are only going to use it at lower density, you may want to consider just gettting a non-adjustable filter at the preferred strength. If you need the stronger filtering though or think you'd benefit from multiple different settings, this is a great value to be able to take the shots you want without needing to spend hundreds on multiple different ND filters.I have a variety of filters and I guess I'd put this as comparable to the nicer hoya filters in quality level but that's based on informal testing and just general quality of the machining, etc. It's not quite up to B+W quality levels but it's also not junk. It's well machined and seems to not negatively affect the picture from informal testing, I have yet to do any formal test shots that I can definitively compare. The adjustment is very nice and seems to match the range as advertised. As mentioned in other reviews, there are no hard stops on the adjustment and it's doubtful that the markings line up exactly with the different levels, I think there's going to be a lot of guesswork involved if you're using it in a way that you need to know exactly what density it's set to.I reccomend getting the largest size you potentially need to cover all your lenses and then finding some cheap step-down rings on amazon to adapt it to the needed size, that way you have more flexibility in your shooting without needing multiple sets of filters.

I now have 2 lenses with 82mm filter size that I use often for everyday and wide angle photography. So I need an ND filter for them. The K&F Concept 82mm Variable ND2-400 9 stop variable neutral density filter is pretty hefty. Nothing thin or lightweight on this variable ND filter. There is a triangular index marked on the fixed ring and dots on the rotating ring for min to max light reduction scale. Unfortunately, these markings fall at the bottom of my Nikon F mount 24-70mm f/2.8E lens, but it lands on the top on my Nikon Z mount 14-30mm f/4s lens. It would be useful to have this center at the top on both lenses to calibrate the light level changes. With the 9x light reduction, this filter was even able to photograph the recent annular solar eclipse with 2 additional stops under exposure to see the partial ring of fire effect. But for other bright summer days, dialing to 4-6x reduction is mostly what I need for landscape photos. With a tripod and manual exposure settings or small f-stop on aperture priority, I can get the desired rich landscape scenes. Or with manual exposure or slow shutter speed on shutter priority, I can get the misty effects from waterfalls or flowing water ways or blur effects as cars or Ferris wheels in daylight.I've not seen optical issues with this ND filter as I don't thread this over any UV/protective or polarizer filter already on the lens. I always put this ND filter directly onto the lens without anything in between that can cause adverse optical effects which is not the fault of this filter. I don't see any unusual lines, vignetting or aberrations or uneven lighting issues. This is an economical variable ND filter that can cost 2-3 times more to get the less than 1-9 stops performance.

I purchased the K&F Concept 67mm Variable ND 1-9 stop Filter for my 27mm, f/1.2 APS-C lens (40mm full-frame equivalent). This filter is an excellent and convenient tool for outdoor photography and videography. However, the design of this K&F 67mm Variable ND filter makes it impossible to attach my lens hood or lens cap. While the lens hood isn't always necessary, it becomes essential to prevent washout when shooting directly into the sunlight.Despite this, I noticed no added distortion in my images and video clips. The flexibility of a variable ND filter versus a specific Fixed ND filter is fantastic for run-and-gun videography or capturing waterfalls with slow shutter speeds in varying lighting conditions. I appreciate that I only need to travel with a single ND filter instead of multiple filters with different stops. However, I do miss being able to attach my lens hood or lens cap when using this filter.I think one has to also purchase the "K&F Concept 67mm Variable ND Lens Filter Cap TPU Material Filter Cap Only for K&F 67mm Adjustable Neutral Density Filter" when buying this Variable ND filter. Personally, I don't feel it should be necessary to purchase an additional lens cap when buying any filter and this still doesn't address the lens hood issue.Despite this design flaw, I decided to keep the filter. Its functionality and value are still acceptable at this price point. (I own 77mm & 82mm K&F fixed stop ND filters which do not present this design flaw).

All of my career I've been using fixed ND's to cut down outdoor light for video, but now that I have a variable ND my world is a better place. Now when the lighting changes, I won't always have to change my settings. I can just turn the ND up or down. This is great for when you need a specific look outdoors. It works well. The color is good. I think I may get some great use out of this.

For the price, you get amazing quality seriously. The metal feels amazing and the turning action is so smooth, it’s a bit stiff but for precision it’s perfect
