This is a very nice quality filter, at a reasonable price. It screws off and on the lens easily. No binding. I used it for the 4/8/24 solar eclipse. It did a very nice job. Optical experts don’t recommend using an ND filter for photographing to sun. ND filters, while maybe dark enough, don’t filter out some eye damaging wave lengths of light. If using an SLR camera, this could be important. I was viewing on a LCD monitor so I wasn’t actually viewing the sun directly. No problem there.I could clearly see sun spots with as great a resolution as my camera would capture. A solar filter I had would smudge the sun spots to the point they were just dark spots. This ND filter was superior in creating image quality. I haven’t tried using this ND filter for making long exposures of normal scenes. That’s where image quality might be even more important. So far, I’m very happy.

I got both the ND100000 (16.6 stop) and ND1000000 (20 stop) for the Apr 8 2024 eclipse. They both worked well. I used the 20 stop during full sun at ISO100 f8 exposed between 1/4 to 1 second. The 16.6 stop max'd out at 1/1000 sec during full sun, but worked great shooting thru thin clouds with about a 1 second exposure. These are a good inexpensive choice for solar photography. Sun spot will show but you need an hydrogen alpha (Ha) filter for solar flares. CAUTION As the amount of UV blocking is not known, don't use the optical viewfinder, instead use the electronic live-view screen to protect your eyes!

Screwed onto the lens perfectly, and works well for blocking sunlight. Sadly the clouds took out my chance at the most recent eclipse, but this still works well for photographing full sun.

I bought this filter kind of last minute before seeing the total eclipse in Texas. I was a little worried about the image quality but reviews were good and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a filter from other brands. This did a great job and honestly I don’t think it could have been any better, especially for the price. I would recommend this for anyone doing solar photography.

Use this for the 2024 solar eclipse. Obtained clear shots before, during, and after the eclipse. Mounted on Canon lens and Canon DSLR body. Large knobs on the filter make for easy on and off. A bit tight and needs to be threaded exactly right, but that's how it should be. Can't see using it for anything except eclipses or sun shots, but for the price it is worth it to own one for those purposes. Filter case securely closes and also has a rubber holder that keeps the filter secure and prevents it from bouncing around in the case. Overall worked great, would buy again.

If you are going to view the April 8th, 2024 Eclipse, this is the lens filter you want according to K&F's website. It's a very dark filter that will help protect your camera's sensor. It is not recommended for protecting your eyes, this lens is specifically designed to protect your camera's image sensor only. Check out K&F's and Eclipse viewing websites for safety instructions.You basically use this filter before and after totality, from what I'm reading you will want to remove it during totality and shoot safely without it. But don't take my word for it, I am a novice, so do your research on your given camera.

Purchased for the April 8, 2024 eclipse and it was perfect. This is one of those items that kind of hard to write a review for since they really have one specific use, to shoot photos of the sun.I didn't want to use the solar film due to worries over image quality, so I grabbed this for one of the lenses I was using. The photos came out better than I expected. Great for shooting images of the sun and visualizing the sun spots, or eclipse hunting. Plan to get more use out of this for upcoming eclipses and to take some random shots of the sun. It's too dark for just about anything else.Nice filter, good quality, would recommend for those of you who might be looking to do some similar photography of sun and eclipses. Very happy with the purchase.

I bought this filter to replace some I had made myself previously out of solar eclipse filter film. It works well and I have successfully taken photos of sunspots, and will also use it if I am lucky enough to see another solar eclipse. There was no noticeable colour cast and it attaches securely to lenses.
