It has come to my attention that many house fires are so preventable, and in interviewing some victims, they found that they had smoke detectors, but the batteries were shot. My batteries were shot and decided I better do something about it.

Unfortunately, these did not fit where our old smoke detectors were. Returned these and ordered the brand we had before. They are good smoke and carbon dioxide detectors. Just didn't fit for us.

Had just changed batteries of old Kiddle smoke detector when was advised about a 10 year closed unit. Chose same brand which has been reliable hoped base was same... Arrived with a better designed base..took down old and installed new base. The catch of the base connecting the smoke detector unit has a better twist connection than old model securing it better.

So far this has worked fine and the AA batteries have lasted for a couple of weeks. This smoke detector is standard except for use of AA batteries, and so far I don't have any view either positive or negative. It does seem to be expensive compared to those from the same seller that use a 9 volt battery. Glad to have it but I think I may just plan to go with the 9 volt version.
