Installed easily on a 2002 2500HD 8.1. The intake tube does touch the fan shroud, but does not rub. Noticeable intake growl on hard acceleration and better throttle response. I did not experience the whistling noise like others at low RPM.

I have an 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD with the 8.1 v8. After installing this part, I definitely notice an increase in horsepower, as well as a nice engine growl, when accelerating. The only down fall, which seems to be common, is a slight whistling sound, @ really low rpms. It sounds like a turbo spooling, more than anything. It isn't anything that would make me reconsider my purchase tho. K&N is definitely the way to go for this type of product.

I installed it on my 2004 Chevrolet 2500 with the 8.1l Vortec. It increased my gas mileage by about 1mpg on the hwy. it also has a slight better pick up when you hammer down on it. It was very simple to install

The K&N Air intake kit fit perfectly and installed easily. Towing my 12,500# fifth wheel I went from 7.3 to 8.5 mpg, may not seem like much but that works out to 16%. I'll pay for the kit on this summers trip alone.There is a significant higher level of noise during acceleration which is to be expected. The filter collects debris rather quickly, also to be expected, which is easily removed by washing the filter. Never have to buy a new filter again. Power is enough more to notice though I don't know how to quantify it.The only down side, and the reason for four stars vs five stars is a high pitch squeal between about 1800 and 2200 rpm. Of course that is the normal engine operating range at highway speeds so the squeal can be pervasive even if low in volume. I have tried tightening the connections to no avail. At this point the mpg and power improvements out weight the annoyance of the squeal.

We installed this on my son's 2007 Silverado 2500HD with the 8.1 Liter engine. It sounds great and we can definitely feel an increase in HP. A great product.

Absolute GARBAGE! The seal that goes over the throttle body keeps slipping off!!!! If you have a 2500HD 8.1 I HIGHLY suggest not buying it!!!! Now my truck is running like garbage cause I didn’t know it slipped off AGAIN!!!

Again, Amazon got this to me quick with FREE shipping. It's K&N, what can you say? It hooked right up, took about 15 or 20 minutes to install on my 8.1 liter Chevy. There is definitely a difference in acceleration.

I love the new power and responsiveness of my truck (2005 Chevy Silverado 8.1L Vortec). I just have one thing that keeps this from being a 5 star.. There is a high pitch whistle sound in the intake at low speeds. I think it might be the MAS but I am unsure I have read of others having the same issue so I am assuming it is a Manufacturers Problem from K&N. I will research further and If I come up with a fix I will post here.
