These are not window a/c units. They are designed for the through the wall metal sleeve. We had a window type in our sleeve because we didn’t know any better. It did work, just not real well. Used a lot of electricity too! This is the right unit for our installation & the largest one that will fit. It does a great job & uses less electricity. This is a 220 volt plug in (like an electric dryer or stove has) will not plug into the standard American 110/120 volt receptacle.

14000BTU. wow, this baby will cool. even our kitchen- living room with a shared pointed ceiling. 25x25. this is the wall mount, not window. . (on a dedicated circuit) the controls are different from our old GE, so just read the instructions. the ONLY thing i dont like is the speed high, medium, and low. there is not a lot of difference between them. it seems like high all the time. we bought a unit from somewhere .10000 BTU, 110v. no way, couldn't cool enough and it was 200 dollars more than this unit. 220v is the way to go. i dont know how much energy it uses, hey it's an air conditioner, they all use a lot.

Bought two wtc1401’s so I could have one as a back up if one of our other apartments ac went bad. When we opened the box, we noticed a small dent on the top of the unit. The box it came in wasn’t damaged so that means they let it come out of the factory that way. The dent was small and we weren’t worried about it because the ac was getting slid into a wall sleeve and the wall sleeve would hide the dent anyways. After installing it, the ac worked for about 12 hours and then all of the sudden we found it wasn’t cooling the room anymore. After letting it run for the day we finally noticed that the compressor would come on for about 4 or 5 minutes then it would turn off and only the fan/blower would run. Once the compressor shuts off the blower ran for about 18 to 20 minutes and then the compressor would come back on for like 4 or 5 minutes and that’s all this unit unit does now. It did this all day long. When I got home I looked at the some more Amazon reviews and saw someone had the same exact problem I’m having and tech support told them their unit was defective. So now I’m going to return the defective one I got and try installing the backup one I bought. Also, something else to note is that this thing is like twice as loud as the LG’s we have installed at our building. Will write an update if the back up unit fails too.

Installation was easy since it was a replacement for a failed unit. It works well for a medium sized room. Good value.

I installed this AC in my pre-existing sleeve, and it was very simple. However, I didn't find the instruction booklet until after I had installed it because they're kind of hidden in the packaging. Make sure you look all over for the instructions. Also, please note that the power saver mode makes a HUGE difference in how cold the air it blows is. With power saver on it often just feels like the unit is blowing regular air. Power saver defaults to on when you plug it in for the first time.A couple things to note--you must ground this unit to the sleeve. Two screws and a grounding wire are provided, but I had to drill a hole in the metal sleeve to create a spot for the grounding wire. I'm not sure how necessary it is, but we have a lot of lightning where I live so I don't want to find out the hard way. Secondly, this unit must have a slight upward tilt. I did this by using one of the long, skinny, blue foam blocks that came with the unit and placing it under the middle of the unit in the front, directly behind the black insulation foam. Works like a charm, but the tilt causes the AC's decorative frame to not fit snugly to the wall. Lastly, be very careful when you're putting the frame together, because it's not designed to come apart again. I recommend looking up a tutorial video if you can't find the instruction booklet.I'll update the review if anything changes.

Looks nice installed. It cools for sure. Strong. But loud. And on lowest speed. Very disappointed. Would think a new a/c to be quieter.I also note flimsy plastic trim. And the filter is difficult to pull out.Wasn’t familiar with company name.

The unit replaced one that I had for eight years, it just slid into the same frame, with no problem. Turned on and good to go! I liked the fact that this unit was the same size as the unit that it replaced.

This air conditioner was a perfect solution for our condo. We replaced a unit from 1978 so efficiency and quietness have greatly improved since then. It turns off and on once you set the temperature you’d like. It also has a sleep mode for overnights. Fit easily in our wall opening and the extra long cord was easy to tuck away. Remote control is an added bonus. Utility bill went down significantly too!
