This seems to keep the kombucha at an acceptable temperature, although I think being able to select what one believes to be the perfect temperature would be great. I wish this had variable temperature control, not only to select what I think is perfect but to also maintain a narrow temperature range. From what I can see, it keeps the liquid about 15 degrees warmer than the ambient temperature. I would love to keep mine within a few degrees, but because of this, it has a range of about nine degrees, because my home ranges that much. Again, it gets the job done so I have no complaints, but it would be nice to control it myself. Definitely worth the money and not worth returning to get one with control. Highly recommended if you want to set it and forget it, which certainly does have its appeal! I metered it and at sixteen cents a kilowatt hour, it costs about two cents a day to run. Also, the cord is quite long at right about six feet, which is nice.

After struggling for a while trying to get kombucha going I purchased this heat mat. It made a huge difference for my kombucha. This is the second mat I've ordered. I have used my first mat for a couple of years now. I just wrap it around my gallon jar and it keeps my kombucha at about 82 degrees. My SCOBY is so much happier. Also, the site has lots of helpful information.

Great heat mat and as added bonus a thermometer strip. Fits almost around my 2 gallon jar. But that's ok, since no I can put the thermometer strip in between. I don't want to warm up my kombucha too much, since I can't drink it that fast :-). So I have it connected to a smart plug, where I keep it on longer at night (when we don't have the heat on) and shorter during the day (2 hours and 1 hour off at night, and 1 hour on and 2 hours off during the day). Energy consumption is low, 7.11 Watts at the moment. Also nice touch is the rubber band to keep it secured around the jar.

Love this heat mat, especially how it can wrap around the jar (with a rubber band to hold it in place). We like to leave the doors open when it is cool outside, but can be too cool for my kombucha batch so this speeds the process up and, from what I understand, reduces the risk of mold. The thermometer sticker is also super cool!

Without a temp control, I was skeptical at first. Instructions say for more heat, just wrap the device tighter around the jar (using a rubber band that comes with) or loosely wrap it for less heat. But that worked just fine! I like keeping my place cool about 67-68F and that's awful for brewing kombucha. I had trouble with flimsy scoby development and even mold once. With this little heater, I get a gorgeous new scoby and excellent quality beverage. Highly recommend if you brew in cooler climates and want consistent good quality. And thinking back now, a thermostat is just one more thing that can go wrong. K.I.S.S. ,right?

So I tried two of the heat mats on two one gallon kombucha vessels (one heat mat per vessel). I have Inkbird thermometers on both vessels and also used a handheld thermometer for measurement. I could not get the kombucha vessels to get higer than 64 degrees. Everything is in a room with a heater vent open keeping the room about 69 degrees at all times. I moved the heat mats to the bottom of the vessels for 24 hours and no change. I moved the heat mats to the middle of the vessels and again no change. Still could not get the heat mats to heat my kombucha vessels up past 64 degrees. I did not want to waste the kombucha as it was a in the first fermentation state so I had to use a heat pad that I use for muscle pain. It did the trick I was able to get the temperature up to a nice and steady 80 degrees. I did remove the Fermentaholics heat mats from the kombucha vessels first. I tested the Fermentaholics heating mats with a laser temperature gun and a handheld thermometer. Both tests gave me a temperature of about 91 degrees. Why the heat mats did not live up to the claims is beyond me. I can only guess since the heat mats are three inches wide they are not enough for keeping a one gallon kombucha vessel at a proper temperature. I will be returning the heat mats back to Amazon and purchasing a different brand. Something wider than three inches.Yes I have extensive experience brewing kombucha. I have been doing it for years and wanted to try out this product to see if it would help out my kombucha brewing. Turns out it just did not meet my expectations.

Good heater. I've used it on 1 gallon jars of kombucha and it's too powerful(a good thing) so I would leave it sitting loosely around the base of the jar and it worked well. Currently I have it heating a 10 gallon batch in my 15 gallon stainless steel brew kettle(bought specifically for kombucha brewing) and its holding the 10 gallons at a consistent 24c(75f). Pretty great considering how large of a batch this is. My house temp is 20c but 24 is the ideal temp so couldn't be happier using it for my brew(ensuring quick and safe fermentation). I bought it when it was cheaper at around 25$CAD and I hope they will lower the price back to that in the future. Overall, I would definitely recommend this for both small and larger batches.

This is my first time brewing a batch of kombucha. My friend, who is an avid brewer and has helped me with getting started cannot believe how well this heating belt is working! She is going to buy one for herself. My scoby is doing really well and the heating belt has kept it at a consistent temperature for the duration of my brew. I will be transferring my kombucha to individual jars tonight. I highly recommend this product.

Made our brewing quicker and more consistent. Used on 2 and 3 litre jars. Wraps around easily. Plenty of cable length which is safely in a fixed connection to the device.Produced good outcome in 8 or 9 days. Bought 1 to try and another after successful use.

As with all amazon products, it arrived within 12 hours of ordering it (yay!)However, when I opened the box and found it to be a USA power adapter my excitement was shot down like a lead balloon. So off I go now to Wilko to purchase an adapter... whats the bet they also sell heat mats eh!Another side note is that there is no temperature control - its either on or off. You get the "control" from mat placement.
