I didn't read the full description and I assumed that the container was metal, but it's actually plastic and it didn't survive shipping. But the beads did their job, and I'm storing them in a plastic food storage container.To the manufacturer: A metal container is a must for storing this dead weight.

We really like these weights—do the job perfectly. BUT, if you’re using a 10†deep dish pie pan (for a strawberry or coconut cream pie, for example), you will need 2 containers. They fill the pie pan just right. No bubbles or bulges in bottom or sides of crust.

I lost my old metal pie weights the last time we moved so I was thrilled to be able to order these. The container to store them in is heavy duty and the weights seem of good quality. Why they’re ball shaped is questionable. My old lost metal ones were flat and disc shaped so as not to roll away if accident dropped. I’m in the middle of moving so haven’t been able to test them yet, but I’m assuming they’ll perform as my well as my metal ones did and if not I will edit this review.

Item appears used. Several of the pie beads look discolored. The container is scratched up on the outside and is missing the label from the that shows in the picture for the item. Finally, the bottom of the container is cracked up.
