Both sizes are lovely. The large pin is a little too big for my preference. Wore the smaller pin and received compliments on it. Would consider this in other colors as well.

I needed a large brooch (e.g., ~3" in diameter) because I have a puffer winter coat with a hood and shawl collar, but no fastenings on the top of the coat. The fastenings are below the waist. Yes, that does sound weird, but I liked the coat, so... It was brooch buying time. The design is an elaborate floral, gold-tone, with topaz and bronze crystals. Yes, it's a little gaudy, but also yes, it's also beautiful. I use it to pin my coat closed just below my chin; it isn't quite so gaudy when I wear it like that. The pin is very secure for piercing thick layers of fabric. For the price, this can't be beat. There are other designs available too. I recommend!
