It was not easy, but you can shorten it by pulling out the two clear plastic nubbins that hook into the handle end of the rope. Then, you thread the trimmed end back through, and replace the nubbins (or bend them back in, I accidentally ripped mine off), and retighten it. The nubbins keep the ends in place. Lights up well, and looks cool! But was such a pain to shorten.

No complaints here. This product came and is exactly as the listing described it. It is a straight forward item, it works, its been played with a lot and hasn't broken at all. The handles have a nice feel to them. I like that you can easily charge the rope and its really colorful and fun when turned on.I docked one star only because the charge does not last too long. Not a big deal though. Its fun for my daughter to play with!
